You should not be envious. Alaska has some awesome scenery!

Wish we could have gone through Denali National Park.

Some SpyderLovers mention carrying an extra belt on their road trips. Could have saved a down day by bringing one along. Lesson learned.

Happy you're on the journey with us!

Great that you two camped all the way. We did the tent thing one night... (O.k., I was a wuss...)

Default Cache Valley to around Salt Lake City, Utah

Went by Hill Air Force Base. Enjoyed the air rip and the booms the planes produced. Awesome!

Ogden Canyon - My daily commute to High School.

Where we had lunch. Tables right along the river.

Still know every curve in this road after all those years.

Too bad there are so many slooow drivers!

The temps. went from 65 in Cache Valley to 85 near Salt Lake City. We started shedding layers along the way.

Hope the good weather holds out!

Those are beautiful pictures. Can't wait until you hit the Utah red rocks. Moab is beautiful--are you going to Arches National Park? I have yet to see that one.

We're in Green River, Utah right now. There's cloud cover with sprinkles now and then. We go through Moab on the way to Durango. If the weather's good, will explore the Arches National Park. If the weather's bad, will make fast time to Durango.

I can not tell you how much I want to make a trip similiar to yours. I would love nothing more then to be able to afford the trip. I want to take my son on this trip, it is something he would remember for the rest of his life and a memory that would never be far from my mind. The smile on his face would be everything to me.

Right now I am living that trip through you, but I hope to be able to do it. My son is 12 right now, this year or next would be perfect age for him.

Don't have to do the whole trip, maybe bits and pieces. Exposing your kids to different environments and ways of life helps them understand there is more to life than whats in their neck of the woods.

Default Layton to Green River, Utah

Had to take care of some business in Provo, then we headed out Hwy 6 for Green River.

Southern Utah showing hints of whats to come.

We're getting closer and the sandstone cliffs are getting bigger.

Green River, Utah. Out my back door.
The Green River spilling over it's banks.

Hope the weather blows through so tomorrow we can enjoy the beauty around us.

Default Green River to Arches National Park, Utah

The weather was high overcast and mid 70's. Arches National Park was on our radar. Thanks akspyderman for the nudge!

The entrance to Arches National Park.

    Balancing Rock.

    Delicate Arch.

    Getting to Delicate Arch.

Default Arches National Park, Utah to Durango, Colorado

Moab is just down the road from Arches and we had to go to Milt's Stop and Eat. Been in operation since 1954.

The famous Chili Cheeseburger. Yup, Hubby rode tail gunner the rest of the day...

Heading out of Moab, we found a nice surprise.

In Durango, looking out my back door.

Having a down day. Going to see what there is to see here...

    1. Again the travel log is amazing. Thanks so much for the extra time it takes to do this for us all.
    2. I do understand fully, but wish you and hubby could be here in MV so we could meet and personally thank you for the effort.
    3. I'm pretty well convinced that you have no eyes EVERY shot you have your sunglasses on!!

1 - Just keeping a promise to a good friend. Glad to have so many people with us on our ride!

2 - Very sad to have missed Maggie Valley. We are nearly neighbors! Maybe there is a get-together in the future?

3 - When riding, face is a dirt magnet. Sunnies and helmet stay on all day till we get to the hotel and I can wash up. Remember those old WWI films about airplane pilots? Thats what my face looks like at the end of the day.

    Default Thanks for the Trip

Yazz, my wife and I have really enjoyed your trip commentaries and the pics. It's like a good book just can't wait for the next page. This comment is meant for Hubby--that chili cheeseburger looked like it had enough "nitrous oxide" to get him back to Texas pretty darn quick!!

Default Durango to Silverton, Colorado and back...

Always wanted to ride on a narrow gauge train and we got our chance!

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad engine. A real live Choo-Choo train with a pedestrian guard on the front.

We followed the Animas River up into the mountains.

If you had vertigo, move to the other side of the car.

Got pretty close to the cliffs.

Waterfalls coming out of the mountains.

It was a whole day event. Very good day indeed!
    Heading back home tomorrow...

Glad you like Arches National Park--Your pictures are great.

Also glad you liked the narrow gauge RR. Had you went to Skagway (100 miles or so, south of Whitehorse) you could have rode the Yukon and White Pass RR through the mountains--same views and set up. We drove the road on the Spyders last summer from Whitehorse to Skagway--but did not take the train ride--since we did not have a whole day to do that.

We were also treated to some nice "nosebleed" views for about 25 miles as we entered the valley to Skagway.

    Linda says hello also.
