Thank you Yazz! After looking at this my wife is pumped, and now she's planning trips! Starting with Maggie Valley, it's gonna be a Spyder summer. The bucket list is getting longer.

You are chalking up some memories that will last for the rest of your lives. I am proud to say I have met you folks.

RE: AK size--laid over the US, they are saying it takes up 3/4 of the size. I believe there is an overlay map on the beginning pages of your Milepost that shows and explains it.

Looking forward to more of your postings. Can't wait to see where you go next.
Glad we got to meet you and become a part of our trip!

Deadhorse and the Prudoe Bay area were nothing like I imagined it to be. Think they're about as nether as you can get. But then Alaska is a huge place and who knows what else is out there.

Seth wins the Perpetual Dirtiest Contest hands down. But I win for Most Dirt Accumulated on one Spyder.

From Coldfoot to Deadhorse is 244 miles with no gas stations. We brought three 2 gallon Rotopax's, and bought another 2 gal gas can up here for good measure. We first had the three Rotopax on Spydee, Hubby had the new gas can. The three on Spydee chattered and shifted around too much, so I had two and Hubby had the new can and the other Rotopax. That set-up worked best.

Glad we got the extra gas can. We both had about a quarter tank left when we finally got to a gas station.

We could have seen the Arctic Ocean but it cost $42 a head and a two hour bus tour to put our tootsies is the water. It was too foggy for a scenic tour and we didn't have two hours to burn so we passed on it.

The North Pole's around here somethwhere, will say hi to Santa for you!

As long as you're armed with good information and are realistic about where your going, its not that bad.

Met two different bicyclists pedaling their way up the Dalton making between 50 and 60 miles a day. Now thats brave!

He faired better than me! Hubby had knobby tires put on in Fairbanks before we left. They cut through the mud to more solid ground. Spydee's fat rear tire hydroplaned alot. The whole trick is to put your rear tire in the tracks of other cars or try to stay on the more gravely parts. And don't stop!

    Default Deadhorse to Coldfoot, AK

We headed out of Deadhorse Camp the next morning looking for gas and the Prudhoe Bay Post Office for the "official" picture.

Found the gas station behind some industrial buildings.

The Post Office has taken down the "Prudhoe Bay" part of the sign. So sad...

It took about twenty miles to get out of the fog and then Wow!

    The water is so blue!!

    North side of Atigun Pass.

If you're an Ice Road Trucker fan, you'll recognize this piece of road going down the South side of Atigun Pass. This picture dosen't due justice to the slope of the downgrade.

More coming on the Coldfoot to Fairbanks...

    Default Coldfoot to Fairbanks, AK

Headed out of Coldfoot for the last leg of this adventure.

The start of the Dalton Highway.

    Hubbies knobby tires.

    One dirty Spydee!

Nature's artwork. The red mud is from south of Coldfoot, the white mud, from north of Coldfoot.

After taking these dirty pictures, took Spydee to a car wash for a much needed bubble bath.

Think we'll start heading south now...

    Bumping for more adventures.

IMHO: I like the idea of you folks as Spyder Ambassadors--you have done more for Spyder as non-ambassadors, than I have seen from some of the official ones.

The above is not meant to discredit ambassadors past or present though--so please don't jump on the statement with claws.

Its a Nelson Rigg. Got it off the internet. Can Am also sells one kinda the same. Comes in very handy for things you get at often.

Default Fairbanks, AK to Beaver Creek, Yukon Terr.

After doing laundry and picking up the trailer, we started back home.

Had to go to the North Pole first!

    Rudolph having a munch.

    Santa's House.

Santa doesn't get up till 11:00 so this is the stand-in Santa to say Howdy to Y'all!

Headed south to Beaver Creek. Did I tell you they have no WiFi yet?

Hubby wanted to try out the camping gear at Buckshot Betty's ...

Will tell you how sleeping with the bears turned out next...

Default Beaver Creek to Whitehorse, Yukon Terr.

The bears were'nt out that night because it was raining. And it rained most of the next day too. We had the privilege of striking camp in the wet.

Our goal was Whitehorse. As we were gassing up in Beaver Creek, cars and RVer's told us the terrors of the road we were to go on. Ummm, we remember the frost heaves/mogels very well coming up. Had to get Spydee's front tires re-aligned after that stretch of road...

Well aware of the conditions to come, we set out. Sheesh! They had filled the mogels in with gravel! There was very little sign of the horrid frost heaves at all! Those people were complaining about a gravel road!! Only the flag lady at a construction sight knew how bad the roads really were. Things are all a matter of perspective.

    Kluane River.

Tonight in Whitehorse, we have camping gear hanging in the bathroom.

Lazy Santa should be ashamed of himself for not making a special appearance for you. I hope you get a good nights rest, and your gear dries out fully in the meantime. Perspective is everything.
