Cheap Communication
Does anyone know of any inexpensive communication systems for driver and passenger both wearing a full face helmet? It would make the rides more enjoyable if I could talk to my wife just a few inches from me. Any product links and testimonials would be much appreciated.

I have midland bt2 setup, normally expensive, found new on amazon.com for about $150 or so. It came with 2 set ups. You could also buy those really small bluetooth headsets and just use your phones.

My wife and I enjoy our Sena headsets. Really nice. Can pipe in cell phone and MP3 player by bluetooth too. Pair up to four headsets. MP3 can also connect by included wire as well.

The pair goes for about $280 on ebay from radiorider. $300ish on Amazon.

I have 2 Cobra walkie talkie and an ear bud for each. Range is 16 mile so driver to passenger or to a pair of bikes should be fine. Only cost $45.00 at Wallyworld. I'm bringing them to Cuba Spyderfest!
On going mods..

I have bought from this several times in the last couple of years. It is mostly imported stuff. Been using the 1000M blue tooth headsets for a year with good results and recently bought the 6 rider system which did pair with my old sets. The sound quality of bluetooth phone and Music from the phone is great. I like the intercom feature as well however never did master getting the music to play with the intercom override when we speak.

Here's a link to a decent system. $130. I don't think you mentioned a price range.

By getting a battery operated unit, you can avoid any hassles of whine or interference from the motorcycle circuit.

One smack on the back of your helmet means "SLOW DOWN!"
Two smacks means "Find me a bathroom."
Her helmet hitting the back of your helmet means "I think I'll take a nap."

Gooddeals18.com has the Midland BT2 setup for $82.99; which specific model are you guys using from that website? There is also a Shark SHKMBT88I for $87.91 that looks interesting.

I'm gonna wait 'till the Sena, Interphone F4 and the Scala Q4 can all talk to each other. ..... Which probably means I will never have one ..

Why pay $200 when I can get one for $100 (only if it's a comparable product). I am looking for a communications set up that is affordable yet is functional and is somewhat durable. Let's say one item is $100 and the other item is $135, and someone tells me the $100 unit is totally junk I will (of Course) purchase the unit that is priced higher. That being said I am just looking for basic communication with my wife sitting behind me, with us both wearing full face helmets.
Thanks Spyder Friend.

I'll just say this...you get what you pay for. Hopefully you can try before you buy. The wind noise can be louder than the voice on the cheaper systems. The noise-canceling features and the volume increase with speed, found on more expensive systems, as well as better electrical interference protection, make the better systems less frustrating and less difficult to use. Thats for the solo rider, mine came with 2 units for rider and passenger. Hence the price difference. Check out amazon.com, you can probably find them for around the same price I got.
