on your new Spyder. Be aware, it is a VERY different beast, and it will take you 200 miles or so to learn to love it. Coming off a standard trike, I think you won't want to ride anything else.

When you get it just find an empty parking lot or non busy streets and get on her. The more time in the saddle the more your confidence will grow. Enjoy!

I am not sure what the transition from a trike would be like. Transition from a conventional motorcycle is variable, but has taken most of us a while to feel completely comfortable. Often, once that transition has been made, it results in the rider never wanting to ride anything but a Spyder.
My first suggestion is to set out some cones or cut-in-half tennis balls, and practice the skills course in your manual (also on the DVD delivered with the Spyder, and on You-Tube and the BRP Website). Practice in an empty parking lot will make you much more comfortable with the Spyder, and its quirks and capabilities...much quicker. It will also be necessary for you to learn to relax your grip. This takes a conscious effort, at first. The Spyder is very responsive, and a light touch is a necessity. Because you had to steer your trike instead of counter-steering, the transition should be easier for you. As a final note, you will have to get used to using the gears and keeping the rpm up. You can't just put the Spyder in gear and hit the throttle, like you can with the Goldwing's low end torque.
I think you are really going to like the stability and good manners of the Spyder, and the improved cornering ability. Enjoy the Ryde!

The Spyder is very responsive. When you first get on it, it may seem Twitchy! But once you get the feel it will be just right. Tendency is to stiffen up and react to everything with steering input.
Instead, let the machine do the work and you just enjoy!
Good luck and report back on your first ride!
Couldn't agree more! The more you ryde, the more you'll wish you'd converted a lot sooner! I converted from a VW trike - after about a month in the saddle of my RT-S I thought that I'd died and gone to heaven! Keep us posted...and a huge welcome to our family!

I, too, am getting a RT-S. I have 59K on my trike, 18K as a two wheeler and 41K as a trike. It took me 400-500 miles to get used to my trike. I love it. I figure it will take me the same miles to love my Spyder. Let us know how long it takes before you really love it.
You can tell when you really love it when you bring in the living room when it gets cold.....good luck.
I traded my 2014 RT for a 2017 Mr. White RT-S. I am George Lewis. I live two miles from Boerne, TX. I am 89, retired USAF and Sony Corp. I also have a GW MotorTrike. My email: scoot62@aol.com
