Which is a RS. It's all the same crap.

So the bulb fires in only one of the front blinkers but not the other.
And you flipped the wires? When you flipped the wires.. does the original bulb still work in that spot? Yes

There has to be a way to make it work.
Do you have a web link for the type of LEDs you purchased or did you pick them up from a store? I got them on ebay, but I have tried a few different wattages to no avail.
Would you happen to know the wattage?
The last ones were 12w but I've tried 1w..
I believe I recall from other threads that Nanny uses different parameters in the SE than the SM.

Any chance you could take a picture of the bulb from the bottom. Is it a 7507 BAU15S connector with 1 dot on the bottom and 2 points on the side at an angle ?

    * do you have a link from the ebay auction you got it from by any chance?
    * what resistor did you use?
    * Did you happen to replace the blinkers in the back of the spyder or are they stock?

    Nice work Motavar.

Thanks for sharing your solution to the LED conundrum....

    Spyder #1 - 2008 GS SM5 Premier Edition #1977. RIP after 80,000 miles.
    Spyder #2 - 2012 RT SM5. Traded in after 24,000 miles.
    Spyder #3 - 2015 F3 SM6. Put 13,000 miles on and sold it.
    Spyder #4 - 2017 F3 SM6. Too good of a deal to pass up!

My LEDs were 7w vs your 12w. hmm.

    Okay do this..
Put your stock turn signals back in both front blinker spots.
I'm guessing you already cut the wire that went to the turn signal and prob have it taped up. un-tape and then try to light up the LED with the bare wires from the turn signal. Make sure you have the wires still connected to the stock turn signal.

So you should have 2 stocks running and bare wires hanging out so you can attach the LED to get it to light. The LED should light up. We're only talking an additional 12w (or 1w) depending on which LED bulb you selected.

Let me know if that works.

PS: reason I asked for who makes the LED is maybe I can order one online and try it out. There should be a way to get it to work on the Spyder.

Look at the connector and note wires #2 and #3
You will hook the resistor up to these wires.
Is the wire coming from pin 1 for taillight? Would use that for alarm system, if so.

You can see the size difference from the original bulb.
Will it fit? Lets find out!

    We have plenty of room

Turned the lights on to see what they look like.

    Lightbulb Hot resistor.

    Great post Motovar.

The engineer in me finds this unsatisfactory. One reason for fitting LEDs is to reduce heat. It is normally radiated inside the lamp housings where you can't feel it. Moving it to a resistor seems to defeat the purpose of using LEDs.

It should be possible to use an electronic ballast to draw the current that is excess to the LED lamps' needs, and shunt it back to the battery with much lower overall dissipation.

I have a rough circuit sketched out of a buck/boost regulator that would draw a couple of amps and shunt the current back to the battery.

My record of acually building these things is rather dismal though, so it might take a long time before I try it out. Is there anyone on the forum who would like to make one up and try it?

    Pogo.
