helmets
bored and just wondering what people use for helmets (type: full face, modular/, open etc.) as well as brand and how they like them. its not about whats better because we all know this type of thing comes down to fit and individual taste but itll be fun to see what people use.

I like a full face helmet. It is the only kind of helmet I wear these days.
It's more than just improved safety. I like them better for a number of reasons.
My wife is clostrophobic and can't seem to get past it. So, on the rare occasion she rides, she has a 3/4 helmet.

Full face only (except for parades and such). Taking one in the face in 2004 was the clincher. As you can see from my avatar, I retained my good looks thanks to my full face helmet! Current helmets are Scorpion EXO-700 and Fulmer AFS7. Next one will be an Arai Vector, like my wife's.

"If it's not a full face, it's just a funny hat."
Took a high side a few years back and did a flying squrell and landed on my face. (wearing a full face) when I came to a stop I got up and walked away. Front of helmet was destroyed.
Full face everytime I ride (and I live in FL with no helmet law)
I also like the wind and debry protection (stock wind shield for more air)

I have an HJC Full Face Carbon Fiber that I love. It is so very light, you hardly know it is there in comparison to other helmets. I have a half helment for the hot days of summer.

I think your other helmet is a 3/4 isn't it? A 1/2 helmet isn't much of a helmet at all.

Full face, there are some big bugs and lots of debris in the road. Also, get your head measurement. Many wear larger than they should be, I was one of those. It's not enough to put on the helmet and try to shake it left and right! It should be a struggle and then it pops on. Shove the front towards your face. If it makes any contact, it's very likely to punch you in the mouth or shove your nose into your face and crack an eye socket. I had blood out the nose and ears and a shattered eye socket, along with a subdural hematoma, contusion, amnesia and spending about 1 1/2 weeks as a live action coma. 40 mph or less.

Really sorry to hear about the trauma. What helmet were you wearing then?

Full face definitely. AMTJIM makes a good point about frontal clearance. Never even thought about that. Mine are:
- Scorpion EXO-1000 - My Primary Lid
- Shoei RF-1100 Strife 2 - WAS my primary!
- Icon Alliance SSR Represent
- O'Neal Racing Tirade Bluetooth - I won this lid, but turns out it aint bad!
I would love to own an Arai some day, but I just can't afford them.

I have a modular AGV and I really like it. I don't have any experience with full face so I can't compare but I do think they might make me feel claustrophobic. My only regret is that I don't have one of the helmets that have the sun shield built in.

White Scorpion EXO 900 Modular Transformer ( early gift from Santa ) to match my ( and the credit unions ) new 2011 RTS Limited Pearl White .
I have a shorty for hot weather but I hate it , to noisy although my wife likes hers . My present one is a HJC flip-up which I really like. In the hot I just flip-up the front and drop down the built in sun visor .

HJC have always fit me well. This is what I'm wearing now. So far I really like it.

Shark Evoline-very convenient but too heavy. Much heavier than my :
Shark RSX-Great helmet. Very comfortable and fits the way a helmet should.
Urban Moto N350. very lightweight 3/4 helmet. I wear it for quick trips locally. On the opposite end of the weight spectrum from the Evoline. http://www.webbikeworld.com/motorcyc...et-weights.htm
Love my

Very cool. The flip down inner visor is a great feature. My EXO-1000 has that too and I love it. Just one of the reasons why it took the primary spot away from the Shoei.
BTW. congrats on the new RT! I bet the white is striking for that platform. It sure works on the RS-S!

Shoei RF 1000 full face for me. I read somewhere that you were 24% less likely to get it by a car with a white helmet; I have no idea if that is true but have used white since I heard that.

Scorpion transformer- in full helmet mode. And a HJC-33 3/4 with full shield when it gets scorching hot out. Both setup to use my Midland Bluetooth.

Shoei Multitec now replaced by the Shark Evoline II. BTW the new Shark is very light. Lighter than the Shoei.
Also, I have a brand new large Shoei Multitec I want to sell. lol
