Got the Job... Spyder mods lining up!
Just accepted IBM's job offer this morning. $$$Greener than what I made at the old job, though my wife is going to be staying at home now once the baby is home from the hospital. I start Dec 1st.
I guess I can grab that new pipe I've been wanting and some new LED toys as well.
I found a lot of silver lining in being laid off... A LOT, I could even argue the silver lining was really gold. Thankful for being able to take a few really long Spyder trips, relax, and have the time to spend at the hospital with our baby.
I'll also be thankful for the new paycheck and benefits!
Not sure that things happen for a reason. Just seems sometimes things just plain happen to you for no reason at all. Make the best of it and plan for the worse case scenario and you'll never find yourself caught short.
Thanks again for all the well wishes and encouragement these past several months... Back to normal (mostly) here and hopefully by time next year's Spyder social activities kick off, you will not recognize my Spyder.

Nice to hear of some personal success out there -- especially in these difficult economic times!
I have a brother that's a senior electrical engineer for IBM in MN -- been there for 30 years. He's been lucky that the hidden meaning of the letters IBM have not come true........
I'll
Be
Moving
Guess they used to move his people around quite a bit.
You've had some great life-changing experiences this year---- again----
Spyder #1 - 2008 GS SM5 Premier Edition #1977. RIP after 80,000 miles.
Spyder #2 - 2012 RT SM5. Traded in after 24,000 miles.
Spyder #3 - 2015 F3 SM6. Put 13,000 miles on and sold it.
Spyder #4 - 2017 F3 SM6. Too good of a deal to pass up!

Whew !!! That's a load off of you guys. CONGRATS. And, just in time for Christmas.
Sounds like you took the lost job like the Serenity Prayer says:
“God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
