I used to do that at the lake. I'd tie up in front of the marina and charge at the other boats coming in with an R/C boat. Giggles... and the kids loved it. They never knew who was piloting it.

So if we're gonna race them, who's got the "go-fast" inventory for these little cusses? (Will Altonk turbocharge his? )
Are they coming out with an RT model next year?? When will they recall the DPS units??

A sticker on the side of the box says 27MHz, does anyone have a different frequency? If not, we'll have to invent an alternative for racing them.

The Walmart in Jane, Missouri currently has 29, they're in the back in boxes.

It helps if you print out the UPC code (earlier in this thread) and take that with you so they can scan it and see that they really do have them on-hand, then they'll go get them for you.

Most fixed frequency 27MHz toy RCs use the specific frequency of 27.145 MHz (Channel 4). However, some toy-grade vehicles have band selectable frequencies. This allows the user to select a narrow portion or band of the frequency to use. Typically the band selectable vehicle will have a channel switch on both the vehicle and the controller that changes between two and up to six bands or channels. In this way, two 27MHz band selectable vehicles can operate in the same area if each vehicle (and its corresponding controller) is set to a different band.

If you see an RC toy labeled as 27MHz but it says something like "Play with up to 3 vehicles at once" then what you have is a toy with selectable channels within the 27MHz range. The manufacturer rarely specifies what those specific channels are but if they use standard color coding, you might be able to figure it out:
    • 26.995 MHz -- Channel 1 (Brown)
    • 27.045 MHz -- Channel 2 (Red)
    • 27.095 MHz -- Channel 3 (Orange)
    • 27.145 MHz -- Channel 4 (Yellow)
    • 27.195 MHz -- Channel 5 (Green)
    • 27.255 MHz -- Channel 6 (Blue)

Hubby was seeing the dentist in an area with lots of stores. "Honey, since I'm here, do you want me to bring anything home?" Me... "Umm, how about two RC Spyders? They're at Wally World? They'll make great Christmas presents to each other?" Hubby... "Sure!"

Off to Wally World he goes. Gets there and looks around in the RC section. "Honey, they don't have any." Me... "Let me give you the scew number." (Thank you, who ever posted those.) I rattled them off and he told them to the store clerk. "They don't have any." This goes on for a while with all the different packaging numbers. Me... "Well, not all the stores have them yet. Ah well, thanks for trying." Then he says...

"While I'm here, there are these neat RC scoots that look just like yours."

True story. I said 'Spyder', he heard 'spider.' He was looking for giant RC tarantulas for his beloved. Gotta love him for it.

docdoru will win hands down after he gets doing all the engine mods, I am sure he is already looking for a bigger brush-less motor to replace the stock one.

PS: just to let everyone know it does not have a great turning radius and as I said it leans when it turns.

If your getting more than one make sure they are different channels. The offer 49MHz and 27Mhz. Once I get mine I'll probably convert it to work with my high end radios and gear and post it as a project showing how I did it.

There is a sticker on the side of the box with the channel. I think the red and yellow color of the Spyder indicate different frequencies but be sure to verify the frequency sticker. Otherwise you cannot run them at the same time without serious problems- it resembles a DPS failure and limp mode with backfiring all at once!

I found a rack full of em today in RTP, NC. I'm here on biz and don't have an easy way to carry them back with me otherwise I would have picked up 2.

I verified they are not channel selectable. My plan is to gut mine of the cheep servos, receiver, speed controller and motor and replace it all with quality RC gear I use in my other RC toys. This will be my winter project.

I'm also looking to deck out the lights and paint job to closer match my Phantom. My wife is already rolling her eyes!

After going to six Walmarts, I found a yellow one for my wife. It'll have to wait until Christmas.

Watch them as you choose yours. The first one I selected was missing the left mirror. Made me have to hunt through three more stores before I found another. Also saw some with scrapes on the rider's leg (road rash?) or damaged boxes.

Went to local WM with barcode in hand this time---- It scans as a valid item--- but they checked inventory and ZERO. None in the store. None in transit. None in our local DC. She didn't think they will ever have them.

So--- the search continues---- might need a trip to Chicago anyways-----
