Good news, Bad news
So my dealer calls me today and says"Hey we got your Spyder in a day early and your exhaust too." I'm ecstatic! Doin the Spyder dance and all. Then the dealer says "It doesn't have the new DPS and we are having a very hard time getting them from BRP so it could be several days before you can pick it up."
W T F! Come on BRP! I haven't even taken delivery of my Spyder and I'm already waiting on a DPS. Geez!

Don't feel too bad...
We have three spyders. All three have been recalled for DPS. We have been trying to get appointments for two of them ever since we got the recall notices. They always say "we don't have the parts call back next Thursday." I know at some point in the future they will have the parts but it is the pitts when the DPS's have been acting a little strange for several months. Just have to stay on your guard and best behavior ever minute you ride. Ken krb1945

There are bound to be some already-manufactured spyders out there in shipping that do not have the new DPS in them yet--- I'll bet yours isn't the last we'll see.
IT happens --- sometimes with a SH on the front of it....
Hope you're on the road soon.

DPS R&R questions
The delays I'm am reading about on SL.com for DPS R&R's are un-believable. I called a dealer while on a trip thru East Tennessee earlier this month on a Friday... The dealer; East Tennessee ATV in Elizabethton TN, said they would do them right away... I had two DPS units installed the next Tuesday and Wensday.. It would have been sooner except they aren't open on Monday. What the heck is going on with all these other dealers??? People waiting days...weeks...? Len

There's a magic "built after" date that's about mid-August... Anything screwed together after then will have the new DPS unit in place.. You could always ask your dealer to see the M.S.O. (Manufacturer's statement of origin) for your to see exactly when it was "born"...

The built date is on the VIN sticker on the frame of each Spyder.

Thanks for the info Bob. I contacted the dealer and they said checking the MSO was how they determined it needed the DPS update. But good info indeed for future buyers so they dont get stuck in the same situation.

dps recall
I called the dealer as soon as I got the letter.
''Will order parts and call you when they are in''
Five weeks later I get the call. Parts are in.
Recall done. I don't remember the steering being this easy!!
Did I ever really have power steering??
Service writer says they are only getting 2 a week from BRP.

Well, well. My dealer just called and seems he contacted BRP and described my plight and they are overnighting a DPS to him and I get to pick it up tomm.
I guess I should really be happy they bothered to check on all the updates and stuff for me. That and they probably got tired of me sitting on the spyder in their shop yelling "VROOOOM!!"

I have not had done yet. Anyone know (once they start the repair) how long it takes to complete / how involved it is ?

Dealer is reimbursed for 1.7 hours labor. Should take about 2 hours.

Dealer is reimbursed 1.7 hours for an RS and 2.0 for an RT, according to my dealer. They say that is about what it is taking them now that they have the hang of it. Yours really depends on your dealer and how they operate, though. Some dealers ask that they be left overnight...or longer.

Took mine in at 1PM and had it back at 4:30PM. Dealer says it takes an hour and a half. Also had no problem with getting a DPS. I think the parts problems are dealer issues.

Every Dealer seems to have a different story on the timing for replacement.
Most agree on about 2 hours to install it, Few agree on how long it takes to get the unit in shop, and how many days it has to be in the shop.
