I do not buy in to the safety thing either so much but the sound increases my personal enjoyment while on my machine and others who have louder exhaust feel the same way when it comes right down to it. I do feel bad when I am around people who are offended by the sound and will distance myself if I can. The plain truth with all do respect is I enjoy the sound of my bike slightly more than I feel bad.

PLEASE if you ever see me at a ride and I am to loud I will respect that and do everything I can to group up with others who are louder so just let me know. I will do everything I can to work with others.

Great post here and very enlightening. I honestly never knew so many people hated loud exhaust. Will still keep mine but will be more mindfull.
I applaud your honesty and your enlightened and considerate attitude. There are a lot of people who won't admit that the important thing to them is really just the sound of the exhaust, not some "safety" BS. Good Show! There are an incredible number of people who have a real in-your-face attitude about their exhaust noise. Your efforts to inflict as little pain as possible, is an appreciated difference. I'll ride with you anytime.

I used to say that there were two things in the world that were never intended to hum.....hotrods and motorcycles. I think too many years of loud bikes, dragster headers, and riding BMWs got the best of me. I really don't like loud exhausts anymore...especially on my motorcycles. Even earplugs don't quiet things down enough to suit me when I am on the road. It makes me feel like a fogey, but the stealth bikes still win around here these days.

    Refreshing.

One comment... There is a difference to me of loud and extreme. I speak of disliking extreme. Simply put because loud to me is 95db ish and below, I have no issues at all with it.

Extreme reminds more of a statement... "Bleep you world, I do what I want". That kind of attitude I have no time for. I have given my shirt off my back so many times.. Well all I am saying is I believe in helping whenever there is a need, but that type of attitude tests that belief...

I am in love with the rumble and miss the soothing sound of 82mph and a 1967 427 Corvette humming down the HWY with the straight pipes... Anything slower and I got a headache! hahahahaha

To me a mellow soothing rumble that says "I have the power and choose to use it wisely" as I ryde is like a good cup of Joe when I need it the most... Therapeutic.

But seriously... Love to ryde with you any day.

And lets be honest... Not everyone has the same love affair with sound. And that is just fine.

The "can" is visiting Bisbee again this Saturday, if I'm not too busy. You know, installing the batteries that were not included and finishing off some of that assembly that's required. I'll get it on here, the techs at Ride Now love it, love to hear it coming!
.........i guess you mean a Camcorder blown off, well Iam sorry about that. Who or what is Bisbee?
Can't wait to hear it and see it, good luck.

Yes, an Aiptek mini-camcorder. I have had a few of them strapped to R/C planes and cars, mountain bikes motorcycles and just simple picture taking. One of those American old west cities, Bisbee, Tombstone...I got a gift card in the mail, maybe I'll have a new one for the trip.

I have a hindle but wouldn't go louder...I prefer to hear music while I ride vs. the deafening sound (literally deafening) of a pipe. The hindle is more than loud enough and I'd swap that out for something between stock and the hindle at some point in the future...

I was actually in a Poker Run ride a little over a month ago and the guy behind me told me that the hindle sounded like a nicely tuned Ferrari...that was a compliment. He liked how it was loud...but not too loud...

As far as safety goes, yeah, we all know that isn't the case...as far as preference goes, sure, people like loud, but, like you, I don't really care for it...

My Hindle is just right for me until I put the Cranker bag on. Then I wish it wasn't as loud when try to hear the music. Oh well ... can't have everything my way.

Ahh the pipe debate, I'm still searching for me a freshly packed Micron was my favorite but after 500 miles it quickly reached the loud point, and got tired of re-packing it at $50 or so per wrap. I'm trying a HMF very similar to the Micron but a little less throat. I came here from Sleds and loud pipes kill that sport, gives small towns a reason to complain and loose trail rights. Always has bothered me as to how Harleys can rumble straight pipe every where without problem..I don't get it and never will..However I hope common courtesy prevails over government intervention on this ongoing debate. As displayed here in this post..

Hubby just put my TBR Dual Carbon Fiber pipes on my Spyder. Love the sound of the cam rumbling! But I will be getting the power tips to quiet it down for my hearing's sake and those around me.

Anyone have a suggestion as to the P1 or the P1X?

MIght take the powertips off when we go to MotoGP just to shut up some of the sport bikers!

    That depends on you likes-dislikes...

If running a single can and not the dual... I would not add one at all... Quite nice sound.

If running the dual... I would go straight for the P1X... The P1 seemed to make to small of a difference to me.

That said... A few drivers to the right of me around 34-45 mph seem to pull ahead of me so they do not have to hear the exhaust.
