    Question Fast idle

    Hi again.

    My other brain cell just fired.

    For a while now Lola has been starting with a very high (2000 - 2500 RPM) idle speed. It seems worse when the weather is cool, but it isn't consistent.

    This is a pain in the seat compressor because, being an SE, it won't change out of neutral until the engine speed is below 1800 RPM, and this sometimes takes several minutes.

    Has anyone experienced this? I'd suspect the throttle blipper, only of course it doesn't. Can anyone tell me what else I might look for?

    Cheers;

    Pogo.

    I'm only guessing here... and I'm probably wrong as you state the RPM does come down after several minutes.

    Does it only do it from a cold start... or can you shut down after a ride and have it do it with the motor hot.

    I've had intake gaskets go bad before causing fast idle... I would check and make sure the rubber boot ( if that is what they call it) at the base of the throttle bodies is secure.

    Other wise I would wait and see what others have to say.
