Instruction tray installation question
I'm putting the Spyder back together after stretching cables and hoses to their limits. In replacing the cowl, I put the tray on top, but it slides without resistance and I can't find a switch that it activates or a spring to provide the pullback tension. Any lessons you can give me here?
Hold on a sec! Is that an optical sensor on top of the speedo/tach unit? Is THAT what the instruction tray trips??

It stays in by gravity...and is pulled out by your fingers. Do you really need springs and power?

I took the safety decal off, I just use the tray as a shield to protect the screen from direct sunlight.
Oh by the way it's operated manually. Like in the old days.

Thanks; which gets back to the second part of the question: does it trigger an optical sensor on top of the speedo unit? I can't find any mechanical switch that it trips.

You mean I've been pulling that thing out every time I started it and I didn't HAVE to? The few times I simply pushed the button on the back side of the left switch assembly without pulling out the instruction tray, the "read first" message stayed on the dash, and it wouldn't engage the starter.

Most likley,l pulling the instruction tray out allowed time for the gauges to do a full sweep! Sneaky engineers! OK, another lesson learned! I pulled the decal off this morning. I like the sunshade idea.

safety message
It's only there to protect BRP from anyone taken any legal action against them if something happens. You know how many people want to get lawyers right away, because they didn't do something right. Take care and drive safe.

wa3wheels How can u drop a raw egg onto a concrete floor without cracking it? *Any way you want, concrete floors are very hard to crack.

In all seriousness, the safety message reading is not necessary. I think that I have looked at it twice in the last two years.
My front muffler bearing was loose, but I'm holding it in place with a frample clamp.
