Default 600 mile check "plug in"

Question? Does the bike absolutely have to be plugged in for the 600 mile check? I haven't noticed codes and I haven't had any problems. (knock wood). I'm a little over a thousand and will do my own maintenance except for Plugging in. Any advice from the forum? Thanks

It should be done, as should adjustment of the belt with the sonic gauge.

I, personaly, would have, at least, a Dealer hook it up and check BUDS. The 600 would ba chance for a good tech to make sure nothing was overlooked when the Spyder was built or in set-up.

I'm not saying it's the right thing to do. I have 7000+ miles and never been to the shop. I do maintain it well, but the closest thing I've seen to a code is a message that the rear trunk was open.

I think the 600 mile service is a very good idea. Pit Bull does it for $199 in order to encourage their clientele to get it done. Of all the things done on the 600 mile service, adjustment of the belt tension is probably the most important. All belts will stretch during the first few hundred miles, so a belt that is under proper tension when it leaves the factory may be too loose by the 600 mile mark.

Good ideal to bring the bike in once in a while to hook up.

I bought my wifes 2011 RT a few months ago and the previous owner failed to bring the bike back for a software update and the interface fix.

I would say the initial adjustments after break in are the most important of any check ups, I would definitely do it.

I would think the 600mile service preformed and signed off by a Can Am dealer would go a long way with any warranty issues down the road. JMHO

    Default The one..!!

time I take my vehicles in is for the first service..after that I do all the maintenance. On the spyder I do take it in to have it checked by BUDS. There are program updates and codes that are stored you don't always know about. That is relatively cheap....jmway...

Had the 600 mile check completed. No codes or problems. Tech did tell me that the Heim links are ok but I sure can't find any paint markings in the webs anywhere and I do have the #4 stamped on them. Tech didn't know anything about this....Hmmmm

    Default hook up

i was at my dealer yesterday because my bike is there for the 600 mile service, ball joints, and waiting on a rear tire and i asked if my bike could go on the machine to see if any updates are due and he said NO he said we like to do it once a year and it only takes 10 min's. so if it is done that quick why not do it to all the bikes

It does make you wonder if some service departments at dealers are up to snuff on the Can-Am Spyders. Most of them seem to be multi-dealerships and the Can-am Spyder is sorta new yet...

Your dealer is a serious dud! One of the specified maintenance items in the 600 mile service is to hook to BUDS and look for fault codes and updates. I'd be looking for another dealer PDQ.

Why would you need a rear tire at 600 miles?
If you ryde like there's no tomorrow, there won't be any
