    Default BEST roadside service SUCKS!!!

Yesterday, I had to have my Spyder towed to the dealer 40 miles away. Still having trouble with the cruise control causing electrical probs. Called for roadside service and was told I'd have to pay a fuel surcharge!

Last time I used them, they had me towed to the wrong place in Indianapolis and then told me I couldn't have more than one tow every 7 days. So I paid $187 out of pocket to get it to the correct place!

Since then I got my Spyder added to my AAA membership. They came yesterday in 15 mins and towed my Spyder to the dealer.

BEST warranty is worth it but NOT for road service!!

How much does it cost to add your Spyder to AAA?

there is additional charge of thiry some dollars, i think to add motorcycle/RV to AAA but even if you have 200 mile tow service, it only covers 100 miles for RV/motorcycle... on my last break down last tuesday 150 miles from home on freeway, i had to go 100 miles, let them drop spyder and call for another tow... California AAA driver gave me the idea but he had to hand me over to AAA from nevada anyway so it worked out. he dropped me off at CA/NV stateline and NV AAA came in towed it to dealer in Las Vegas. i am paying total of 134 bucks a year and i can use them 4 times a year.
also does not cover key in the trunk for spyder. found out both key in trunk and 100 miles thing the hardway.

The AAA for bikes is expensive as they lump them in with RV's...

This makes another crappy story about the BEST warranty.

We use Good Sam because we have a camper. They cover our motorcycles & cars also. I think we pay $139 a year to have them. Never had to use them (knock on wood) but have heard only good things about them. We also get discounts at campsites w/ it.

Does that mean you're the "Sucks" roadside service we've been discussing?

To be clear, I meant the towing not the warranty part.

I have heard good reports of the road service... But too many people I personally know on this forum have had bad luck getting a tow to a bike dealer much less a Can Am dealer.

Friend of ours has the towing from AMA. He got stuck a few weeks ago, called them, waited for a couple hours, nobody showed up. We went to meet him and HDX and Roaddog moved his bike to a side street. He went and borrowed somebody's trailer to get it home.

This is from their membership sign up page:

    AMA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE

Covers all of your motorcycles, cars and trucks
Towing up to 35 miles. Up to five dispatched service calls per year
    Covers RV's
    Covers trailers
    Trip Routing
I am not sure there are too many places you could break down on the Spyder that are within 35 miles of a dealership.

The AMA Roadside Service is not available to all members, only those that sign up for automatic renewal. Sorry, nobody gets to keep my credit card number and permission to use it...indefinitely! I'll take my chances with Best or Progressive, or my BMWMOA Anonymous book, or AAA with the cars.

    I LOVE BEST warranty Service
I used the tow once with no problems. They were very quick to dispatch a truck for the 46 miles to the store of my choice, not the nearest. Haven't had to use the Warranty yet as my standard warranty just ran out last week. I have used the "annual" portion of the the BEST Plus and up until this year I was happy as I hadn't paid a penny for service. I

While it was in for the DPS repair I asked them to also do the "annual maintenance" as outlined in the BEST Plus contract (oil change, air filter, various checks and adjustments. I was told I already used up my included annual maintenance. I questioned how could I when I still had 2 years on the BEST Plus maintence? The dealer aid BRP says I was allowed the initial 600 mile check (which I received) and two annuals, whcih I also received. I could not see anywhere in the contract where it stipulates 2 annuals but it does say for the term of the Warranty.

I haven't dealt with BRP yet. Has anyone else taken davantage of the BEST Plus maintenance and what is your experience?
