Default Seattle to Myrtle Beach tour

We will be leaving around the first week of June on a tour. My wife and Kiddo(the pooch) will be on the Spyder and I will be on my Honda ST1100. We will be cutting a swath diagonally across the states and would like to meet up with any Spyder folk along the way.

Here is a map of our tentative route with stopovers:
    http://www.google.com/maps?f=d&sourc...29&ie=UTF8&z=4

We have folks to visit in Colo Springs,KS and Memphis, and Myrtle Beach. All the other stops are just overnight rest stops.

After Myrtle Beach,we will be heading north to eastern Ohio, to the town of Kinsman, then thru lower MI to the Upper Peninsula of MI, where we have a house. We are planning to head "down" to the Spyder shindig in S. WI or IL, and then back to the U.P. for some more visiting. We will be heading home across the northern states sometime in the first part of July. We haven't planned the Myrtle Beach to MI and back to WA as of yet.

This will probably be the longest tour we will be making in our lifetime. Since we have nothing to tie us down in WA, we will be taking our time while doing this, similar to Dudley and Jennifer's trip last year.

I m speculating it will be around 7000 miles total.

So, we look forward to seeing some of you along the way.

    Brad, Pat, and Kiddo

Would love to hook up when you come through Michigan, and maybe ride along a ways. Probably some other Michigan SpyderLovers interested, too. Keep posting, and let us know when you'll be on that leg of the journey, and we'll try to work something out.

Scotty, if you look at his map, it doesn't look like he plans on getting close to Michigan unless he is taking a different route home.

Keep us posted on your progress. When you hit Myrtle Beach, I may be able to make the 3 hour ryde to visit with you there for a bit. It all depends on your timing vs my work schedule though.
    Very Happy Spyder Ryder!

    Default HI Draboo

If you wanted to change your route, just a little, I think the 3rd week in June, is the COLLEGE WORLD SERIES in Omaha. I posted it to see if there was any response from any, I received NONE, its a BLAST, over a 100,000 people from all over the country come to it, just no , don,t know why.
Maybe on your way back you can stop in Omaha , They have a REAL BIG FIREWORKS display around the 4th, or we can maybe meet up, for a dinner or somthing, and on any Wed nights, QUAKER STAKE AND LUBE, has a BIKE NIGHT, they get over 800 bikes (ITS AWSOME) its on the IOWA side of the river, close to 3 casinos and lots of rooms, I-80 goes right by it. TAKE CARE,,,,John

    Hey Draboo!
Your path to Ludington is going to take you within 5 miles of my house! I'd love to hook up with you and hopefully some other Spyder ryders for the ryde. Ludington is a nice place and I'm always thinking of nice trips to take. Vendit also lives in the Lansing area. BJT, Dltang, Scotty, Firefly, MXZ600 and Brpjunkie are also relatively close.

It really depends on when you come through here since the BRP event in Chicago is the end of June and several of us are attending it.

    Ryde safe!

I thought Lamont said it is in Wisconsin not Chicago, I hope BRP gets the word out. We will be in Ludington the second week of June and home for the weekend of June 18. Plenty of time to make the spyder party.

I must have missed his Wisconsin post...it happens! Wisconsin would probably better for ryding...lots less traffic!

Default Will be leaving this Sunday, May 16th

The three of us are heading southwest-ish starting Sunday. We are pretty much following the map I posted. Instead of posting on every website I go to with a seperate thread on each, I have started a blog that Pat and I will post on, hopefully every other day, if not daily. Feel free to post there, we will be happy to respond to all who chime in. Also, if there are any folks that want to meet up who are close to any of the flags (overnights) on the map, please let us know by either posting on this thread, or on the blog.

Looking forward to meeting some of you on our journey.

It went from Chicago to Wisconsin and then back to Chicago but a lot of us are staying outside of the city and closer to the event on Saturday. Hop you guys can make it. Sounds like a great trip.

from your map, looks like you'll swing right though my neck of the woods when you leave Myrtle Beach. Maybe we could do lunch.

We made it to CO, and are taking off to Topeka in the AM. Check the blog for pics and updates.>HERE<

Both bike and trike are running flawless. The pup has to be one of the most photographed dogs while doing 80 on the interstate!

Looks like a nice mix of highway and byway. I love the 2 lanes but appreciate the superslab when there's many miles to be covered and the scenery stays the same.

Default we are in WV heading north to PA.

We are in Fairmont,WV waiting for the weather to improve. The trip has been going well. Our stay in SC was fun. One last surprise to pull in Aschtebula, OH, and then off to MI.

Scotty, we will be in touch with you when we get closer to MI, maybe the end of this coming week.

Had to replace the tires on my Honda in Myrtle Beach. Getting towed was a real trip. It was either that, or spend 2 days 250 miles from the M. Beach.
    A real PITA.

the Spyder blew a fuse for the tailights/brakelights. This started a code across the screen. After we replaced the fuse, no more codes. Weird. Other than that, its been 3900 miles and Spydie has been running just fine. The driver, on the other hand, needs an overhaul!! Sure am grateful for the Day Long seat on the Honda!

Oh, and the Biker Dog of the Year,Kiddo, is drawing crowds, on and off the Spyder. *ARF*

Sorry to hear about needing tires on the trip, I am sure that was an additional expense you would have rather done without. I also blew that fuse before, and it makes an ABS failure code appear, and then Limp Home if you get on the brakes a little hard with it blown. I had to find the short from my new license plate light, and fix that before I stopped blowing the fuse. Hopefully yours was just a glitch this time.

I hope the rest of your trip is uneventful, and you have a great time.
    Very Happy Spyder Ryder!
