I m not sure if I responded to this thread or not, so..
I retired in '08 after 38 years working as a carpenter, mostly concrete gang forms. I had a small contracting business off and on when I coundn't find work with a contractor. Wife retired from the Dept of Corrections in MI.
We just moved from an apt complex to an old farm house. What a welcome change that is!!

Well, I have just skimmed this thread, and I think that if it came to choosing people to survive the end of the world, most of y'all would be way ahead of me, with the skills you have!
I'm in customer service - the operative part of that phrase is the 'cuss' part, lol! Trust me on that. We are in sales and service for European manufacturers of wire drawing, fiber optics, and cable-making machinery. That's how I make my living, although I am a licensed building contractor.
I'll probably never get to retire. Between the economy's hit to my retirement plan, and the fact that I am the sole breadwinner in my household, I'll probably work till I drop.

Good on Nancy and IDW777frog. My daughter is special needs, and although she is no longer in school, just turned 27 last Saturday, I gotta hand it to you folks.
