I assumed (I know, do not do that) that we would be only posting 1 link to our online album, say picasa or photobucket for example. Have each pic # with points amount. Its going to be an awful loong thread posting each pic seperately. jmo

I agree, I think the current model will be difficult to maintain long term. Especially once spring hits and us hibernating Spyderers start Spydering again.

Not too bad...I created an Excel spreadsheet that totals all the columns for me. Just add the name and put the points in the right box...LOL

Google Docs would simply be a copy of that spreadsheet.
People could paste the link to their pic in the appropriate box but the link is not "hot" so I'd have to Cut & Paste every link

I made a Google Doc and entered one of Roadkill's URLs. Did a Search the Web but got
Your search - http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9981.JPG - did not match any documents.

+I don't know squat about Google Docs, but clicking my link brings the viewer to my image.

Are you saying that when you click my link, you get an error?

Maybe just use a google spreadsheet instead of your excel sheet. Keep it locked so only you (or a trusted volunteer) can edit it, but we can all view it.

Instead of doing a search on the link, select the cell in your excel sheet then click button on cell left side. Image or link will launch into a new tab.

Default trying a different method of recording; feedback appreciated

+To save space (?) I'll start compiling my stuff into a single periodic post with the item number & points referenced therein.

Now, where was I before I so rudely fell asleep at the keyboard last night?.. Ahh, yes, looking east upon the Rondout Reservoir. While walking back to the bike after reading the kiosk history presentation, I noticed intermittent flakes of snow, but certainly nothing of concern.

(#14 +50) Westward ho! then, to the Chestnut Creek Covered Bridge in Grahamsville, NY:
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9982.JPG
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9983.JPG

(#74 +100) A few more snowflakes continued to present themselves, but again, no big deal, and I was elated to also snag a totem pole in Grahamsville:
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9984.JPG

(#23 +125) Next up, the Western Mohegan Tribe & Nation Reservation and Museum. Enroute, however, I got slammed with sleet, freezing rain and occasional snow squalls, and decided I'd head for home with only a few more stops intermingled in my travel. The Reservation:
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9985.JPG

(#61 NO POINTS) As I progressed into the Rondout Valley in Ellenville, the weather changed to a simple misty rain, and I stopped at this D&H Canal snubbing post, thinking it'd qualify as a hitching post. (When I reviewed the list later, however, I noticed that it specifically said a "horse hitching post", so no points. Didn't make sense not to let you enjoy the pics though.) Text of the historic marker reads, "Snubbing Post, Delaware & Hudson Canal (1828-1898) opened valley to commerce. Ropes holding boats in lock cut grooves. Posts became O&W R.R. milestones. Moved from near Napanoch, 1960":
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9986.JPG
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9987.JPG

At this point, home was only 10 miles away up and over the highest point of the Shawangunk Range, and as I progressed upward, it became clear that altitude had enormous impact upon the precipitation. I didn't make it more than a mile when things got slick real quick. Leaving the village had me slipping the rear wheel endlessly, and at the first hill cut on the mountain, I had to turn around due to lack of forward progress. Now I was facing a 26 mile route that still included getting over the ridge 12 miles south of here, and as I proceeded, the snow simply got heavier. At Route 17, I was able to make the climb on the slushy interstate up and over, and then chose a local route that skirted the eastern edge of the ridge back north to my place.

(#49 NO POINTS) I already provided a one-room schoolhouse pic from earlier yesterday, and thought you might like to see the 1859 Walker Valley Schoolhouse. No points for the image, though, and check out the snowy road:
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9988.JPG
I'm only 4 miles from home at this point, but I sincerely doubted I'd make it up my driveway, which is ~500' long with a 13% grade.

Sure enough, this wound up being the first night my bike did not get garaged, so I covered it up and kissed it goodnight, before venturing back out the next afternoon...:

I'm really enjoying seeing all the pictures posted on this thread and I want to complement everyone on the pics. Special complements to Roadkill for getting out in the snow and posting some really great pics. Also, I really like Roadkill's format. Hope to contribute a few of my own later this year after the Spyder gets here.

Default item numbers are referenced in the following post

+Since I needed to retrieve the bike from "down below" (as our family refers to the egress of our driveway in the wintertime), and the driveway hadn't quite melted well enough due to limited sun (it faces west in the shadow of the Shawangunk Range), I aimed outbound and targeted some more images.

(#48 +25) The Walker Valley Fire Company revised its rooflines (previously flat) only a few weeks ago, and as I write this, its siren is blaring:
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9995.JPG

(#28 +15) My original ridge target couldn't be reached due to yesterday's weather, so I snagged it today. The Stone Church in Cragsmoor, NY. Not much for contest point value, but she sure is purty...:
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9996.JPG
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...es/35_9997.JPG

(NO POINTS) These images are of back down to the area from which I couldn't escape yesterday; you can see the peak of the prison from yesterday's images along the lower edge of the ridge I was unable to climb.

    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...s/35_10005.JPG

(#29 +125) The Shawangunk Grasslands just received nearly 3/4-million dollars for upgrades. The Galeville Park is on contiguous lands. Both comprise a former airstrip and FBI training grounds:

    Default clarifications, please

    #5...no rocket

+Sitting behind the cannon in this guy's lawn display is this rocket: http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...s/35_10010.JPG

    –noun
    1. any of various simple or complex tubelike devices containing combustibles that on being ignited liberate gases whose action propels the tube through the air: used for pyrotechnic effect, signaling, carrying a lifeline, hurling explosives at an enemy, putting a space vehicle into orbit, etc.
    2. a space capsule or vehicle put into orbit by such devices.
    3. rocket engine.

I need to know what are you looking for, please.

#46...see a torpedo but no memorial

+I'll stop back at the NYS Submariners War Memorial and photograph the plaque at shrub height. Will that additional photograph show that my original image was taken "at a war monument or memorial"?

#59...Shawangunk is in the middle of NY? Where is the international crossing?

+Your list reads, "county or regional border crossing". Is the "county" in your list a typo'd "country"? And, if so, what is meant then by "regional", please?

    Thanks,

    Default 1/18 pics cont'd

+After leaving the NYS Submariners War Memorial yesterday, I headed into the village of New Paltz.

(#22 +50) Image taken at the intersection of Huguenot and N. Front Streets in New Paltz, at the Huguenot Street National Historic Landmark Historic District. The historic marker lower left reads, "Die Pfalz, a French Huguenot village governed by 'the dusine', a body of 12 men chosen annually. For 100 years the only form of government." The plaque on the stone reads, "To the memory and in honor of (12 names) The New Paltz Patentees, who, driven by religious persecution from their native France, exiles for conscience' sake, came to America, after a sojourn in the Rhine Palatinate near Manheim, here established their homes on the banks of the Walkill, settled the country purchased from the Indians and granted by Patent issued by Governor Edmond Andros on the 29th day of September, 1677, and nobly bore their part in the creation of our free government. The Huguenot, Patriotic, Historical and Monumental Association of New Paltz erects this Monument, the 29th day of September, 1908." The plaque on the wall next to the door designates the "Jean Hasbrouck House... a registered national historic landmark possessing exceptional value in commemorating or illustrating the history of the United States". The historic marker on the right reads, "Jean Hasbrouck House built in 1712, by the patentee; now home of the Huguenot Patriotic, Historical and Monumental Society, Since 1899"

    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...s/35_10011.JPG

Keeping my eyes open helped snag the next three images enroute home.

    (#84 +25) Winter Sun Construction

    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...s/35_10012.JPG

(#77 +50) Libertville Rd. (should read Libertyville Rd., as seen in the inset image of a sign at a more southerly intersection with Albany Post Rd.)

    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...s/35_10013.JPG
    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...s/35_10014.JPG

    (#65 +50) Tydol and its Flying "A"

    http://www.roadkillonline.net/imaged...s/35_10015.JPG

And a few miles from home, this moo'd at me.

    (#9 +25) Live animal

I believe that is a photo of either an external fuel drop tank or a deactivated napalm bomb. I don't believe there is an exhaust nozzle on it....anyway I didn't see one.

Very nice! Now how about one near the falls or hotel where I used to hang out when skipping school. :-)

    Default Roadkill's Image Keep

+My submissions can be viewed by browsing into the "spyder scavenger hunt" image album at Roadkill Online http://www.roadkillonline.net/

I'll edit in/out contested items shortly, holding those in the related misc album, so that no contested material remains in the scavenger hunt album.

I'd appreciate it if you'd check what I've got in there so far, Irish.

    Thank you,

    Ride on.

Looking good...three items for which I gave NO POINTS.

#32 Should be a symbol and not a sign

#35 Can't see the actual castle

    #68 Not a classic "windmill"
