Gave you all but this one since it cannot be confirmed that this is on a big rock and not just an earthen mound

Irish... I am saying the "Welcome to the Flinthills" is the Interesting part that is written on the BIG Rock. That's why I had my husband up there so you could see how big the Rock is. It is actually a Limestone rock that is sitting on a bunch of limestone & flint hence the "Flinthills". If the Welcome part isn't interesting enough I can deal with that.
Thanks,
Deb

Thanks...Irish. Sorry, I should have made my explanation a little more clear. After going back & looking at it I could see how you thought the sign was the interesting part that sat on top of the hill. I'll try & do better next time in my explanations.

Hey Folks
Can someone point me to the longest word that Roadkill has. My internet connection is so slow I could send a pigeon back and forth and it would be faster.
Thanks

That's what I was thinking of doing, but at this point in the race it would not be worth it. If I can get sixty five or seventy of the photos I will be happy.
If there was just 70 or 80 points in the difference,, then !!

Longest Word scoring suggestion

+Thank God for helmets to keep our brain vacuum intact.
I'm not sure how you'd planned on scoring the sign with the longest name, but may I recommend a #88 scoring rule, Irish? (I don't think any of us would be averse.) Why not assign each letter of the longest word sign presented a value divided from 100?
For example, my Lake Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg (45 characters) divided from a total 100 value would net a 2.2 value per letter. In turn, someone else's presentation of Lake Woebegon (8 characters) would then net a value of 17.6 (2.2 * 8).
Just a suggestion, and for annual variety, perhaps next year you could assign Scrabble tile point values, or something equally unique, causing us to look for things like Quinnipiac College or such...

Okay, I think I've got a spreadsheet that will make this painless. Only problem is I have only been entering the total number of letters and I am not about to go back through all the posts to get the words.
Anyone who has an entry for Item #88, please repost.

+As I understood it, you were only counting letters in a longest word, not total length of word characters. The requirement for ANY points should still be the length of A word in the sign, not all of the words.

(53 +50) On a ferry boat
+I just took an extended weekend ride to/from northern Vermont, where Adrian organized a group ride. I gathered Scavenger points along the way.
Enroute to Colchester VT, I progessed eastward from the Northway (I87) via the Essex Ferry across Lake Champlain. At $6.00, I thought it was a bargain for the roughly half-hour float across the waterway.
(#53 +50) On a ferry boat (Aboard the Governor George D. Aiken):

I rode the Lake Champlain Transportation Cos. "Southern Ferry", eastbound from Essex, NY to Charlotte, VT. If you need to cross Lake Champlain, the ferry system is truly an integral component of many routes.
