Default Should there be a bolt thru these Empty holes?

    Hi All.
On my new 2023 RT Ltd, I crawled underneath by the back wheel and above the muffler I saw a bracket with holes that line up with a panel. I checked the other side and there was a similar bracket with empty holes.

Should there be a bolt through these holes?

Maybe not a bolt, but they definitely look like they should at least have push pins in them...

Have you read that last PM reply I just sent you, mentioning things very much like this from that dealer??

I wouldn't be at all surprised if there's more things like that which either weren't done at all during assembly; or they weren't done correctly/properly!

That reminds me, we haven't had a local working bee/maintenance day here in South Oz recently, maybe it's time for another?? I'll look into it.

I recently replaced the left side side box opening cable on my 2021 S2S. There was definitely a bolt in that position on my bike. If I remember it was a 6mmx20mm or 25mm bolt with a largish washer top and bottom with nyloc nut. It locates the large black side panel, a metal bracket on the frame and the black trim panel that goes around the side box and opening/lock panel. Hope that helps.

yes...agree with Flier Tuck. One side of my 2020RT was missing the bolt, so replaced it. It helps hold the side case in position.

You made me go out to the garage and lay on the floor! lol

My F3 does indeed have bolts at those locations.

    Care to name your dealer?

Since he is in Australia, I doubt any of us will ever run into that dealer, and judging by Peter's comment in #2, the quality of their work is already known down there.

Those bolts are the lower-back fixings for the big black panels. Whoever had the panels off last didn't replace the bolts.

I know mine were loose from driving and I had to tighten them up. Maybe they were there and fell off. But for sure, you should have a fastener there.

It’s a new 2023, Ray. I would imagine that this is a dealer assembly failure. Unfortunately, Australia has its fair number of “less than exemplary” Spyder mechanics, just like the US has

Thanks for the info, I will get some bolts from my workshop and fit them properly. I have a large supply of bits as my previous bikes were Royal Enfields, and the saying is 'making riders into mechanics since 1901'.
