Do Tri-Glides still use the starting motor for reverse?

I had a 2016 TriGlide for 4 years. Sold it, and bought a Spyder F3 Limited. Would not go back. The Triglide (in 2016) was extremely under--powered. The steering was terrible on my bad shoulders, while the power steering on the Spyder solved that issue. I did like all the storage on the TriGlide, and the infotainment system. It also had a better seat than the Spyder. But it rode like a truck.

You probably won't get slammed. The posting rules prohibit that.

However...you will hear some opinions that you may not agree with, if, you are a Tri Glide proponent.

The subject has been discussed a few times here. Remember, this is a Spyder website (SpyderLOVERS), so don't be surprised if the answers are biased in favor of Spyder.

Even I have an opinion on this one. Without going into to much detail...

When the new RT (touring version) Spyder came out in 2010, the same year they introduced the Tri Glide, I went to both dealers to see which one I wanted. The RT won for many reasons.
The TG was almost double the price for the RT. They wanted $40K out the door...which included a $5000 admin fee. because I was buying a Harley.

They are both entirely different machines. I compare the Tri-Glide as a low end Ford or Chevy from the 60's. Remember the bench seats, uncarpeted floors, cheesy trim-if any, three on a tree unless you wanted to upgrade to an automatic. The RT was more like a Cadillace out of the box.

You get the idea, I am sure.

Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

    Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)

MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles

IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.
