    Cool 2016 Runs hot for a while - what would cause this??

    2016 RTL seems to run hotter than midway for a while, then after some amount of time will settle in and stay in the middle of the range on the temp gauge. I have flushed all coolants and changed oil & filter with the Lamonster oil change kit. Running pure BRP coolant and still seems to run hot for a while. Then it will come down after about 15-20 minutes of riding. Don't know if it's the gauge, sending unit, thermostat, or what. Would overfilling of the coolant level possibly cause this?

    Is the BRP coolant you are using premixed 50 glycol and 50% water? If not 100% glycol does not cool as well? You may have some air trapped in the system? Did you check the level in the bottle after running the engine for awhile? No real answers but I am a long ways away, good luck.

    if the cap is not completely sealed it will not PRESSURIZE completely .... IF you over-filled the reservoir it's OK the system is designed to expel any extra .... and it's possible there is air trapped in the system .... What are yor Radiators doing ....Good luck ....Mike

    Well, the baby needed burping! After looking over all of the responses and following the 30 minute elevated front end high idle procedure, it seems to be corrected. Yes the BRP coolant is 50/50 "DO NOT ADD WATER" printed on the bottles.
    Got a few bubbles during the procedure and came up to operating temperature with fans coming on and temperature holding steady at halfway. Then took it for a ride for about 30 minutes reaching high speeds, low speeds, low gears, high gears, never got higher than halfway on the gauge. Thank you all for your help!!

    While I do hope you resolved the issue, do not be surprised if it returns.

    Recently had odd temp fluctuations, then no issues, then odd temps again several times on our 14 RTS.

    Several folks stated it had trapped air in the system. Oddly, ours too had recently had a coolant flush and fill. According to the maintenance manual, the 1330 by design is self purging. We rode more than 100 miles after the coolant flush without any issues, then intermittent temp concerns began.

    Just the other day, completed replacing the water pump assembly, which includes the thermostat.
    I suspected a failing thermostat since the issue would happen randomly, AND when fans kicked on, no heat off the radiators yet the temp indication was well above normal.

    With new water pump assembly installed, coolant simply refilled without anything more than it self purging as the manual indicates, temps are again as they were when new in 2014.

    If yours acts up again, replace the water pump assembly.

    Did you follow the service manual instructions for refilling the coolant system after draining the system? The service manual tells you, after draining the system (by removing the lower right radiator hose) to start with a cold engine. Fill it with BRP coolant, as previously said that is premixed 50:50, and fill the system to the Cold level in the reservoir bottle. DO NOT cap the reservoir bottle. Start the engine and let it run until it reaches normal temperature (the fans should cycle twice). Shut off the engine and let it completely cool down to room temperature. Top off the reservoir tank to the Cold level and ensure the cap is properly seated and fully tightened. Take the bike for a long test ride to see that the temp gauge runs at proper level.
