    Default Thanks for the welcome

I have a 2023 F3 Limited, Mineral Blue Matte finish. Does anyone know what can cause a VSS fault message when you start the bike?

Hi Kpirtle, welcome to the Forum!

Not too many people visit this part of the Forum, so you're unlikely to get a great response by posting here - which is why SpyderBOT says:

.... Do NOT post support questions here, please post them in the appropriate forum once your account is approved.
It shouldn't take too long for your account to be approved (your username will turn the same Blue as SpyderBOT's ) and then you can ask out on the more frequented public pages, where there's already a LOT of discussion about exactly this - it's well worth your time to do some searching and a bit of reading up on it while you wait for your account complete its approval process.

That said, the most frequent cause of this sort of problem encountered when you try to start your Spyder is a dead or dying battery, even if you think it's still cranking/starting well! These things are EXTREMELY power hungry and very sensitive to even the slightest of reductions in their battery's voltage level &/or its ability to provide its full cold cranking amps while also starting up the numerous computers and control systems etc. So a 'less than ideally'p spec'd battery (like the factory OEM units fitted to the 2022+ Spyders! ) will frequently produce errors like this...

Quickest fix - get & install a new AGM, GEL, or NiCad battery of the correct size rated AT LEAST at 350 CCA & 21 A/h that's been charged on a proper charger (& NOT just a Maintainer!) for AT LEAST 8 hours BEFORE installation (noting that few retailers actually do this, even if they might say they do! ) It's not really worth replacing the OEM Battery with another of the same; if you do, you're very likely to be back again with the same battery problems in the very near future!

Good Luck! And again, Welcome aboard!
