Default Just completed my 1330 spark plug change!

Well, at 48,000 miles on my 15 RT I decided to change the spark plugs. I am not going into a big HOW TO article here because IdahoMtnSpyder has a very good post with pictures (thank you for that.) I will say the job wasn't as bad as I was anticipating and if these make it 48000 miles I will be ready to try it again or the next guy can do it. The job took a total of four hours that included a break for a sandwich and a refreshing beverage. If you take this job on buy the plug kit from Baja Ron. Not only does it include everything you need, but the price is very good. VERY good! If I were to buy everything individually I not only would have maybe twice the $$ in it, but would also have leftover stuff to store or worse yet toss out. Another tip, the foam insulation above the airbox is breaking down with age and will fall apart easily. I first though about removing it altogether, but mine wasn't totally shot so I kept it in place. I removed and replaced one plug at a time and covered the open hole with a clean shop rag while prepping the new plug for installation. Can Am engineers have managed to get five pounds of crap in a two pound bag so working space is tight. While maintaining these machines isn't as easy as my Moto Guzzi or 400 Burgman most tasks can be performed during a rainy afternoon like I had today.

Congratulations on a great job. For my spark plug change on my '15 F3-S I had the dealer do it. When it comes time to change the plugs on my 2020 F3 Ltd I will have Ron's shop do it.

Ya, I got an order in at Ron's for plugs and a air box delete kit for my 2012RTL. Not really looking forward to the mission, but we will get her done!!

Hi Mikey. It's not too bad. I had mine done in about the same amount of time as Navydad, doing one less cylinder. I also replaced my air-filter with the air box delete, tho I got mine from JT back in the day. Just take your time and all will go well. Take out the brace on the right side, it will give you better clearance.

Last year I did 2 bikes (at the same time) it took 7 hours. The hardest part was getting the air hoses back on both ends. But even that only took a few mins each.

Oh yeah, the camera in your phone works great for those "where did that part come from" moments. Take pics.

Wouldn't be a hard change if not for the airbox.

That's why it's not going back!! In case I still have it for the next plug job! Not to mention the extra space I'll have to get to other things that need to be worked on.

I taught my kids when they helped me with projects that it wasn't a "Real Project" until you'd been to the hardware store/parts store at least three times, and you were bleeding (usually from a knuckle.) They are all grown now, and still ask me if my latest project was a "real project" or not. Fun stuff - thanks for the memories!

I hear ya on the band aids! Seems like every project of mine lately turns into a "real project". Don't even know I'm bleeding until I see it dripping on everything. My skin must be thinner than rice paper. Never hurts and my blood clots very fast. "old age" setting in I guess. Bill
