Found my leak
Looks like it's the piston seal. Should be an easy fix.

You're in luck! The nut and seal are the same part #'s as your '08 SM5.

I have never trusted the modern Harley's with no little oil puddle under them.

Hows a guy get that lucky! If that was me it would be a inner crank seal or the like. Must have been assembled dry, great fix none the less. keep up the good work. Gene

Nice work Lamont!
Just wondering, how many miles did you have on your Spyder when you noticed the oil leaking from this problem?
thanks, again nice work!
Cheers.

About 300 on this RT. My last RT had 2500+ with no leaks and two of the other RT5 guys have over 10,000+ with no leaks. It's not a mileage thing, it's a bad part thing.

I guess after the last experience, you weren't inclined to give it back to let them fix it, huh?

I guess that was part of it but to tell you the truth I don't mind problems like this. It gives me a chance to get to know the RT and maybe I can help someone else in the future.

I'm glad that's all it was. When I saw the thread title I was afraid it was the fuel leak that seems to be getting some notice. That leak is messy, but not as flammable.
