Default How tight should the oil drain plug be?

Most, including dealerships, get these plugs way too tight. They only need to be mildly snugged. I like to use a stubby 3/8" ratchet and even then, not put a lot of pressure on the plug.

I've never seen a plug fall out or even leak. But I've seen many that were stripped from over tightening.

Torque to the specs in the owners manual. They get tighter when the engine gets hot during normal riding.

    To answer the question -

    On the oil sump cover - 21 lbf/ft + or - 1

    On the clutch cover - 15 lbf/ft + or - 1

    And on the oil filter cap - 18 lbf/ft + or - 2

Personally, I go by the mfgr’s torque specs.

I have had car dealers tighten the plug so tight that I had to use an extended socket handle. Can’t trust those buggers.
