Default What do you do to Secure your RT 622 At Hotels?

I am curious as to what methods you use to secure your trailer when you leave it behind at a hotel.

Using some sort of a hitch lock seems simple enough, but I was wondering if you do more than that to secure it, so it is there when you return.

A long vinyl covered cable with loops on each end wrapped through the frame and locking it around a light pole works well. Seen it used many times.

I’ve seen a few people use a tire boot. But most everything is just a deterrent. If someone really wants it they have the skills to defeat and take. I use a lock brass hitch lock

I use a vinyl covered cable and wrap it through one wheel and around my trailer tongue and lock it. This way it can't be rolled away. That and a hitch lock keeps honest people honest. That's about all you can do.

I would use a vinyl covered cable and add an alarm padlock. Cables are harder to cut w/ bolt cutters and the alarm lock (~$17.00 on Amazon) emits an ear piercing 110db shriek if it's shaken (like when the cable is being cut).

Another option, or addition, is and Apple tracker (or similar) hidden in the trailer. If someone makes off w/ the trailer, you, ALONG W/ LAW ENFORCEMANT, can track it on your phone.

    Just an idea.....

This is what I have done..... hitch lock plus cable around a pole. Then I always try to park it within sight of the front desk and tell the attendant that I'm locking and leaving the trailer for a period of time. Never a problem.....

But keep in mind, two guys and a pick-up truck can have the cable cut and trailer loaded in mere seconds. Make sure your insurance policy is up to date.

Our neighbors had their camp trailer stolen right out of their campsite in a commercial campground during the day while they were away. It can happen at any time anywhere to anyone if you don't take precautions.

I've used a 622 trailer since 2012 and take 3 to 4 trips a year where I need the extra storage. I use a hitch lock, park it as close to the entrance as possible, I don't expect hotel personnel to watch it (not their responsibility) and don't worry about it. Haven't had an issue in 11 years. Comment #8 is the first time I recall anybody posting about a trailer being stolen and it wasn't a can am trailer.
I do like the idea of putting an apple tracker in it.

A hitch lock along with a chain and pad lock attached to a light pole.

I like the cable system, but I already had a chain.

The only peace of mind is a current insurance policy!

Like others here, I have used a chain to secure it to a pole, railings, etc. But, if someone really wants it…….
