Default Shop Can't Do Recall, Sprocket is 'Stuck!' Any suggestions??

So, for many reasons, I wasn't able to start getting my sprocket recall done until Friday.
At around 4pm one of the guys (not the tech) tells me the sprocket was stuck. "If he can't get it loose soon, he'll have to escalate his approach".

Now its Monday, and its still stuck. "Never had that happen before".

So, they've had my Spyder since 11am Friday, its now 5pm Monday without progress. I'm thinking there is not a lot of effort being put into this.

    Any suggestions?

"Stuck" can mean more than 1 thing. Why it is stuck is the key. Is it rust buildup? There are some great products on the market that can loosen the rust. Has it started to spin on the shaft? That is a bigger nut to crack. Slapping it into reverse might break it loose. But if your tech is asking us for advice, you could be in trouble!

I can think of three or four ways (off the top of my head) to remove a stuck pulley with little effort, so here's my cynical opinion..., I expect that BRP has a set rate for R&R on the pulley; perhaps if it is "stuck", and the "approach" has to be "escalated", there is additional funding for the repair.

I had only got my new to me F3 when I became aware of this pulley stuff. I got proactive and thought I would have a look. I sprayed with CRC and stuff for several days before I attempt to remove mine. I sprayed with the nozzle where the splines meet. Bout 4 times a day for a few days. Then I used a loaned puller and a brass hammer. Removed the bolt. Fitted the puller and applied a little tension. I did not keep cranking it. Then went round the clock tapping with the brass hammer. 3 gentle load cranks cranks on the puller and it fell off. Being OLD School I cleaned it up and refitted with some copper past. Got scolded for that on here. Molly grease apparently.
The Tech that replaced it last week said it was Majic to remove and in perfect condition.

Photo of it before removal and being sprayed for a day or 2.

Like Ron said, it has probably turned on the shaft a bit. It might be the first time they have encountered that, but that does make it difficult!

All they have told me is its "stuck". Will they take it to BRP to get more money? Should I offer some $$?

Myself, if they have been in the business very long and have a puller, PB blaster or any penetrating oil of sorts and a little heat that thing should come off.

It is up to the dealership to take the pulley off. There is no such thing as stuck and will not come off. If all else fails, they will have to split the pulley. They just don't want to get it off very bad, or have mechanics with close to zero experience.

If BRP is saying the recall repair is impossible, then it would be up to them to replace the whole bike, but everybody knows the recall is possible if they put some effort into it.

They will get the pulley off. The 'Stuck' part is just a reason (or excuse) for why it is taking so long. Stuck just means it's going to be more difficult. Certainly not impossible. Time for patience.

I'd be losing sleep worrying about transmission damage from all the yanking and yarning they're doing trying to get that off.

I suspect the repair tech who handles the hard stuff was off work a few days. My Spyder will be ready Thursday.

(Bensenoid - thanks. I needed something else to fret about.)
