Default Can I move my trailer hitch wiring from my F3T to my RT??

As the title says, I am looking into reusing the trailer hitch from my 2016 F3L Special Edition to my 2021 RTL. The physical hitch transfer is going to be pretty easy. But will the wiring harness be able to be reused? Is it a simple plug and play install?

Ok, I have a OEM trailer hitch and wiring harness on my 2016 F3 Limited Special Series. I would like to remove it from that bike and put it on my 2021 RTL. I am pretty sure the hitch itself will work, but i want to know if the wiring harness is a simple plug and play item, and will it work on the RTL once I take it off the F3L.

Hitch OK if hole in axle correct, not sure on harness but I think al0vely did the same swap and had to get a new harness.

Based on this L-M item https://www.lamonstergarage.com/trai...020-lamonster/ I'd say 80% likely the 2016 F3 OEM trailer adapter will carry over, albeit with some minor bodywork. The critical items are the 10-position (maybe 12) connectors with purple centers under left rear side of your F3. If they match your 2021 RT then you have a successful solution.

The trailer adapter power for the 2016 F3 is probably RFB F4 10amp. Is there something matching in the 2021 RT owner manual?

It isn't clear what trailer adapter al0vely was using on her 2016 F3. Instead of moving that adapter to her 2020 RT she chose the Show Chrome 41-201 solution which has the apparently 12-position connectors but also requires taps for installation unlike the OEM trailer adapter.

I'm guessing the Show Chrome adapters are 5-wire to support CAN's separate brake and turn lamps requirement. A 5-to-4 adapter is required for USA combined brake/turn lamps.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I think I will not be taking a chance on the wiring harness. I will just swap out the hitch and order a new wiring harness. Thanks again.

Let us know how it turns out. The BRP adapter module for the 2016 F3 is no longer separately available in Accessories but rather is included with the hitch p/n 219400519 (old) 219401091 (now). There doesn't seem to be a BRP module or hitch available for the 2021 RT. There is a BRP hitch with module p/n 219400990 for the 2020 RT,

I am just now seeing this and already replied to your post on FB.

Yes to the hitch transferring and no to the wiring harness.

I used the Show Chrome 16-127 5-4 trailer wire converter and 41-201 electronic fuse block. Mentioned in post #4 and #6 of this thread.
