Anyone here proficient in creating a GPX file for a Garmin GPS?

Is there anyone that is proficient in creating a gpx file, from 14 addresses to create a file for my Garmin Zumo 660 on my Spyder.

I use Garmin Basecamp to create Zumo routes. If you have it on your PC or Mac, you can create your waypoints (addresses) and tell Basecamp to connect the dots based on how you want to go (twisty, fastest, or combo). You can then drag the route lines at your pleasure.

I can also build it for you and send the gpx if you PM the locations and how you want to go between the points.

Caution! Rever-created routes have a habit of changing when moved to Zumo hardware (different routing engines). Tweaks are usually required after loading.

Thanks for the heads up,, I just usually use it to create routes and save them to use on the phone app.

Oops I think I sent Cloverhill my message. I just sent you a PM of all the addresses for the route in order of first to last. Thanks alot. I want to stay off of highways as much as possible, and go back roads, as long as the are not unpaved. Thanks

NB: My Zumo is a 595. Yours may be different, but it should handle GPX files without blinking.

I've been setting routes in Google Maps. Then I send it to my phone, or in my case, since I don't own a phone, to my email. There I copy the web address from Google's map message and paste it into the box on this web site: https://mapstogpx.com/

In less than a minute a GPX file is in my downloads folder on a Windows machine. I always rename the file to something understandable. (I made a route for riding from Anacortes WA to Tillamook OR, avoiding highways. Name is "Ana to Mook.gpx" Makes sense to me; that's what I'm after. Short and sensible.)

Note that if the name of the file is too long it will not be recognized as a GPX file by the Zumo. I've spent very little time looking for the maximum character length allowed by Garmin, but haven't found the answer and I have no desire to experiment to find out. If you see the file SIZE along with the NAME where the file is stored on the Zumo, you're good. The Zumo will always show the file NAME, but it won't load it into routes, ie. make it usable, if the file SIZE isn't visible. That's my experience anyway. Shorten the name and, voila! Zumo recognizes and loads the file as a GPX.

Plug your Zumo into the computer. Look for it in Finder or Windows Explorer or whatever file manager you use, open either the Zumo's memory folder or its memory card folder and copy the GPX file to the GPX folder Garmin creates there. I use the SD/memory card for all my GPX files; the Garmin's internal memory is nearly full with maps.

I should be able to move those to the way-too-big SD card, but Garmin's own directions don't work.

Using Google Maps

You can set miles or kilometers in Google Maps. You can also tell it to avoid highways or toll roads or ferries. It doesn't let you set "Pavement only" or "Stay off dirt and gravel."
