Default How important is balancing the rear tire?

I had a car tire mounted by the local tire guy this weekend, and of course he didn't have a way to balance it. There are a half dozen weights on the wheel, it seems to ride fine, but maybe just a bit more wiggle in the bars. Thought about taking those weights off...

    Thoughts?

At my first REAR tire change ( to an Auto ) I went to a Mtc. shop and had it balanced ...... the next one and the 6 after it I didn't..... frankly I couldn't tell the difference ..... Front tires/wheels are different from the REAR for Spyders ..... the rear swing arm is substantial, and the wheel/tire is kept in a fixed position. .... I think Peter agree's .... If you are using a Kenda tire - - all bets are off ..... JMHO ....Mike

I recently had my rear tire replaced and the tech put 28 psi in the tire. For 2 days everything vibrated from the floorboards to the windshield. I dropped the psi to 17 cold and it ran up to 21 hot. All the vibration went away.

If was same brand tire as before & tech was skill - may have lined up as previous tire & balance the same. **MAYBE**. Something to do with color dots on edge of tires. Apparently helps when swapping same brand (production process)

If the weights were for your previous tire, I'd remove them. There is zero chance they are doing you any good. Good luck..... Jim

Pop some balance beads in the tire. Easy to do.
