Default Passenger Seat Stuck -- any advice?

I attempted to remove my passenger seat yesterday so that I could install the backrest and found that the seat is stuck. We took the side panel out and found the release cable and we pulled on it with no luck. We're out of ideas. Any advice out there? Thanks in advance.

If you can see where that cable is hooked in the latch get something up there behind that arm and give a push while someone's pushing down on the seat and pulling up on it!

Something like a bent bit of wire is good for pulling the catch.

We got the seat off and it looks like the problem is up front when turning the key -- nothing happens with the seat lock mechanism. So if we put the seat back on, we'll have the same issue. Does anyone know what parts I might need to order or the the assembly picture I should be looking at to look for parts? I have an appointment with the dealer on the 26th but I expect they might have to order parts so I doubt it'll get fixed that day and the leadtime for our trip on the spyders is too close. I don't mind getting the parts ahead of time and taking them with me.

    Good work.

I have no idea of the part .

You may wish to attach something to the catch so you can pull the latch open without fiddling around in the meantime.

unfortunately possibly the other cable to frunk likely to fail soon too. **possibly** don’t wan jinx - just fair warning. While have access if you can diy a back up release would be helpful, few various threads on material & how to’s also advisable to lubricate cables -also various sprays available. Always helpful to help releasing some pressure on latch area by pushing down (gently) on whatever attempting to open
[not mandatory -just helpful] dealer should be able provide part # , doubtful will have on hand, hopefully is just cable failure. Personally have had couple possibly from positions of handle bars then attempting & not pushing down relieving pressure, overstuffed & ect

Many on here have put rip cords on their brackets just for the same reason you have run into. the seats and front frunk seem to be the biggest cause of concern, anything related to the key switch. I replaced the seat cable on my bike the hard way and have since found that taking the switch assembly out is the easier way of replacing cables under there!! A little oil in the right places is a must do on all the locks and latches!!
