Default B.E.S.T. Warranty NOT warrantying the stupid side bag door handles that break anymore

We've practically all had our bikes in multiple times to get these cheap plastic sidebag latches replaced, and now I am being told that B.E.S.T. Warranty is NOT warrantying the stupid side bag door handles that break anymore??? Is anyone else hearing this? Can anyone confirm this? If this is true, it is class action time?

I just had my 2021 RTL saddle bag handle fixed Friday under the BEST warranty. I had to pay the $50 deductible. The latch cost $38 and the labor charge was 1 hour. The warranty covered both.

A small piece of unsolicited advice. BRP gets very touchy when you start talking lawsuits. Especially when it's uncalled for.
Remember, you catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar.

I broke a latch and just had my 2020 RTL side bag latches repaired and upgraded through a TSB. Show this to your dealer and explain that you're having difficulty opening the sidebags. They should do the work at BRP's expense, including repairing any broken latches.
Once the upgrade is done, the sidebags open very smooth with little effort. Like BUTTAH.

As always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.
If it ain't broke, don't break it.

If you’ve already had the bulletin done, and have your stainless steel cables installed, then that’s the warranty work.

    https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...03706-0001.pdf

If you’re breaking your handles because you’re reaching the end of travel and have to give it that extra yank to get it unlatched, then adjust the cable. Get down under the the saddle bag and look up into that open area behind the handle. The adjuster is up there and works just like any other cable adjuster.

They have fixed these things several times, they always are so hard to open the plastic breaks. Not sure why can-am doesn't make a steel handle.

Three Wheels, thanks for the TSB. I have replaced both handles and cables myself on the wife's 2021 RT. After confering with CAPTJAM his recommendation is that this should be added as a PM to adjust and lubricate the cables with EVERY oil change. Might be a little anal retentive but not a bad habit to get into. The handles and cables together are about $120.00 Just a thought FWIW, your results may vary. These cables live in a VERY dirty enviornment.

Don't get hung up on words folks.

Good advice. True...honey catches more flies than vinegar. Threating law suits over a small item like a luggage bag handle MAYBE a bit much. To me it sounds like the DEALER is giving you the run around, not the BEST warranty people. Dealers have been known to "fib" a lot these days.

It is truly a pain that a $25K plus machine has parts that snap off and break. I do hope you can get your problrem solved to your satisfaction. Just be careful which bridges you may burn behind you.

I wish I had seen this TSB and printed it out for them. I did ask them to check and they said there wasn't one. They printed out everything for my 2021 RTL and it said nothing about this. But I am glad it only cost me the $50 deductible to get it fixed. Would have been nice to keep the $50 though.

You should be able to submit a claim with BRP to get reimbursed.

UPDATE!!! It took weeks of arguing and sometimes screaming over the phone, but then one email to the President of Can Am, and i get this back:

Thank you for contacting BRP. Mr. Boisjoli transferred me your email and I opened a customer service case.

I spoke with Jason at your dealership (Moto Member) to better understand the warranty claim that was done. There was still an amount pending representing the handle which is not covered under the BEST warranty. I've approved a credit, under customer service, so that he can reimburse you the full amount $ 282.15.

On my 2020 RT, I had my cables replaced by a dealer, showing them the TSB. Turns out that Can Am won't warranty it if the trike is out of warranty period. But the dealer covered it under "customer service" funds. My side cases open every time so very smoothly now....

I'm sure that's what they said to you, but I'm calling BS on that. I think the dealer was either mistaken or trying to pull something off. Most likely they were mistaken. They didn't charge you, so they seem to be an OK dealer.

Perhaps TSB's are treated differently than recalls.....my main point was that mine work flawlessly now, so the "fix" seems to work.

Hey does anyone have the specific part numbers to order for the cables and handles. I have two 2020's that both have problems and our local service options are not good to be nice. It's just easier to do it myself. TIA
