...Welcome to the month of JULY 2023. We are having some crazy weather here and the 'heat is on'. Hopefully everyone has enjoyed the First Half of Year. Now onto the Second Half.

For Us in Indiana this is the normal start of the hottest season of our year. We usually have temperatures in the middle 80s and upper 90s.
This is what helps the corn and beans to grow up.

Going to be a hot month here in Indiana.

Today is going to be 85°F with off and on all day rain showers. I hope they are right.
Low of 68°F with some clouds and maybe rain.

Sunday's high is 80°F with 60% chance of Rain.
Mostly in the morning.
Low at 62°F.

July in the desert S.W. is the time of year we pray that our air conditioners will keep working. The daily average temperatures for July are 106/81 for highs and lows. Today will be right at that average. Humidity is currently 10% and there is a 5 MPH breeze. There are no clouds. Stay safe..... Jim

...Welcome back to Monday, currently 68°F. I had a little rain and the Indiana humidity is very noticeable. The corn and beans are loving it. For me, I try to make the best of it.

Tomorrow is the Forth of July, to celebrate USA independence day.

Today will be doable at 82°F for the high.
Low of 61°F.

For the last couple of days, it has been a bit hotter than previously forecast. We are seeing highs of 111+ with overnight lows in the mid 80s. At noon today it was 103 with 10% humidity. No clouds. There is no relief from the heat in sight.

This evening we are having free hotdogs and chips at our community Activities Center. It's a BYOB affair. Then at sundown, we have a decorated golfcart parade. My cart is ready! These events tend to bring out lots of people who try to keep cool by ingesting good quantities of ice cold beverages of unknown ingredients! Stay safe everyone and enjoy our Independence Day..... It has been muggy, cloudy for the 3rd of July. We might get some showers and downpours out there again this evening. Not everyone has seen the wet weather, and not everyone will, but the downpours that have developed today been slow-movers. Activity will weaken and become more isolated as the evening wears on. While a few showers may hold on this evening, the outlook for the fireworks displays tonight is favorable. Plan for a sticky, mostly cloudy evening with temps in the mid 60's to low 70's.

It will be muggy overnight with areas of patchy fog by morning. Tuesday will feature more sunshine, but still keep an ear out for thunder and a have a plan to move indoors if showers or storms develop over my area. Once again the shower activity will be a hit or miss.

By Wednesday,there will be only a small chance of scattered showers or a storm. There will be more sunshine and it will be hotter and still very humid. Temps top of in the mid upper 80's to low 90's by Thursday. With the high humidity it will feel very uncomfortable An approaching cold front will bring renewed chances for showers and storms by Friday.

We have great weather so far this month. Been in the low 90's and high 80's. Humidity has been mostly down. Partly cloudy mostly, but enough sun to keep it bright. Breezes accompanying it all, so it has not been oppressivly hot. Happy 4th of July.

....I hope you had a Great Day Yesterday. I sure did. Yes, it was a little hotter than I wanted it to be. Currently I have 70°F with clouds.
No rain showers for us here today maybe tomorrow. The grass is a very beautiful lite brown. ....

The Tomatoe plants are very healthy and are excited about the weather. Maybe get my first tomato in a week or two. I sure hope so. .....

High will be 89°F and cloudy.

Today's weather is a lot less active. But now we have to deal with too much heat!!!! It looks like we will have a Heat Wave on our hands( 3 consecutive days with temps in the 90's or higher). It will be mostly sunny both today and on Thursday, but and isolated shower or thunderstorm still can not be ruled out, mainly in the higher terrain. ( This is the first heat wave we had this year).

The "heat Index- feels like-like temperature which is a combination of the actual air temp and the humidity, will be in the mid 90's for many of us over the next couple of days. That is dangerously hot,so they are advising us to keep any strenuous outdoor activities to a minimum.

It will still stay hot in the day on Friday. Than a cold front will come through later in the afternoon &evening with showers & thunderstorms. That will knock down the temps a bit as we head into the weekend and into next week. But it is also looking like yet another "unsettled weekend..... a bit on the cooler, cloudier, more showery side.

The current temp is 84 degrees, sunny, they have a heat advisory Alert.

Geez, the weather's all over the place, innit?!

Here on Oz, where we're more often than not living with the 'hot!!!' stuff, right now, we're

wet!!!


We got a little bit of sunshine yesterday, maybe all the glimpses adding up to an hour or so in total; then this morning, I headed off down the hill to go for a ride, only couldn't get out on any of the main roads cos they're all running 6" deep in water, and it's still raining!

I tried to use a couple of the higher back roads instead, but with all the rain & other traffic with the same idea, they've all been turned into slush, so when the front of the RT started to act as a 'snowplough' in the mud, I decided it just wasn't worth it!

...I also have some Hot and definitely humid Days coming this week.
The so called heat index is going crazy. Feels like 95°F to 111°F.
I definitely don't enjoy this season anymore.

Bring on the 82°F or lower for me.

...Welcome to Friday's weather news, currently we have overcast and 63°F.
No rain in the forecast for today. Indiana Farmers are starting to get a little excited about the rain that we had this week.
It was enough to help. Hopefully this weekend we will see more rain.

Low at 66°F. Maybe get some overnight rain.

According to the weather forecast today's high will be 112 and the overnight low will be 84. But the thermometer (in the shade) next to our swimming pool shows 117!!! There are no clouds. Humidity is now at 7%. The breeze is at 5 MPH. We have not seen any rain for 105 days. Stay safe..... Jim


There are news reports every day now about people that need to be rescued because of their dumb idea to go for a hike in this heat. One lady had to be rescued 3 different times from the same trail!!!

It's a toasty 88 degrees here at 6600', the hottest of the year so far. All you low-landers who were laughing at us during the record winter snowfall, well, ya know .....

Heat index has been in the 100's, I'm looking forward to my trip to Maine with July temps in the 70's.

Here is the latest update on the weather here in Vermont:

They have issued a Flood Watch on July 9th at 3:16 pm. The flood watch is now in effect THROUGH Tuesday Evening What........ Widespread significant to considerable flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is likely.

Where..... In Portions of Northern New York, including the following counties, Eastern Clinton, Eastern Essex, Northern Franklin, Southern Franklin, Western Clinton and Western Essex of New York.

Portions of Vermont, including the following counties, Caledonia, Eastern Addison, Eastern Chittenden Eastern Franklin, Eastern Rutland, Eastern Windsor, Essex, Grand Isle, Lamoille, Orange, Orleans,Washington, Western Addison, Western Chittenden, Western Franklin, Western Rutland, and Western Windsor Counties of Vermont.

When.... Through Tuesday Evening.

Impacts.... Excessive runoff may result in significant to considerable flooding of rivers, streams, and other low-lying areas.
They are forecasting widespread rainfall amounts of 2 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts of over 7 inches of rain especially near and along the spine of The Green Mountains of Vermont.

The Governor of Vt has declared State of Emergency,and they have activated The Emergency Management Center. They are saying that this could be very bad. As bad as Hurricane Irene which happened on Aug 28th, 2011.

I am OK, and on higher ground. I am not going anywhere on Monday( 7/10/2023).

Here in Indiana we could use the rain. We are still short overall but we received about an inch last Saturday morning. This has been a very challenging season. Weather People are saying that we might have a dry summer. Currently we have clear sky and 60°F.

Thank you ..... We are experiencing a Major flood event ( state-wide ) lots of road closures. The town of Ludlow ( lower Vt. ) is basically underwater ...... My immed. area is well above what could Flood and no streams that will over-flow. .... I'll keep you posted .... Mike

We have been on the "edge" of the extreme heat warnings. Sunday was actually "cold." We had 70, intermittent drizzle, and a cold clammy feeling to the air. Our "garage" cats actually wanted in and the door shut about 4:00 PM. They usually wait till about an hour before dark. The mid to high 90's are supposed to be back shortly though.

....Still sending Prayers for those in the 'Flood Zones'. I just saw more videos from the areas. Not a pretty sight. Remember to keep to the high ground and don't mess around with the flood water.
