Default Backrest - BRP or Showchrome for a 2020 RT-L?

After a decade of riding without one, I think I'd like to add the support of a backrest.

The two contenders seem to be the BRP stock backrest at $360 (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...sc_act_title_1), and the Showchrome version sold by Lamonster and others at $212 (https://www.lamonstergarage.com/quic...-am-rt-models/).

Thoughts, experiences and opinions greatly appreciated.

Most of the time I ride on my own, but I do have a passenger about 20% of the time. I don't want to the backrest to make it uncomfortable for them. I probably wouldn't use the pack on the back of the Showchrome version. Everybody is an average weight range. I'm 5'6", and lean more forward than most when I ride (or drive).

Baja Ron Anti-Sway Bar, LED reflectors, Lamonster USB Charger (and phone mount), Can-Am Low Windshield, X-Creen Tour Variable Windscreen Spoiler Blade, Power Commander, Dilithium powered Flux Capacitor (not yet fully functional).

I've had 5 " Utopia " backrests and compared to any other brands I've seen they are the most adjustable & THINNEST around. .... Your passenger will love it also ...... go to their website and check the cost ..... good luck ... Mike

I just checked their web site your model is $259.00 with free shipping .... I saw the install instructions .... takes maybe 10 min. ..... The way the actual backrest attaches to the mounting bar allows quite a bit of " Lumbar support " if you need some. PM me and I'll tell you how it's done .... Mike

Utopia gets an A+ for me.
I have had Utopias on a lot of 2-wheelers and the Gold Wing trike I had.
But I purchased the Show Chrome for the Spyder in the interim while the Utopia people were on vacation at the time.
Did not like it AT all.. felt like a tiny hard fist on my spine.
The Utopia has a larger pad thus distributing the pressure.
I do not carry a passenger but have ridden my own backseat a couple of times on long rides and did not have a problem with space, however I am 5'5", 135 lbs... not too big, not too small... so there could be a comfort difference in passenger size and space.
To me, the '21 RTL seems to have a pretty roomy passenger seat compared to some others.

+1 for Utopia although not in your 2 listed.

I owned the BRP backrest for my F3L and it was OK but I ran out of adjustment options. I owned a Show Chrome for the 2014 RTS we have and it is not comfy to me.

The Utopia is super comfy for me and even priced less than BRPs. It is a few dollars cheaper to purchase the Utopia from Value Accessories than Utopia and they offer free shipping.
