Any opinions on New Rear Tire Costs?
WOW just talked to dealer about changing out my rear tire on my 17 F3-L. Almost fell out of my chair - 3 hours work time at $152 per hour and $180 for a new Kenda! Fronts would be 1 hour for each tire at $152 and $105 per tire. Shocked is what I was. I know dealers gotta make a buck, but those times seemed a little long. Looking for some opinions. I know it's another tire thread, but I haven't seen any asking about price recently. Just wondering?

If it was me in your situation, I would ask dealer if they would mount a tire that you provided. If not a good tire place should be able to due it for a lot less. You would have to take the tire off yourself. Bruce

I just purchased 2 front Vredenstein Quatracs for my 2016 F3L for $111.82 apiece and then my dealer mounted and balanced them for 1 hour ($120) total labor for both. I would think you should look for another dealer. The Kendas leave a lot to be desired, and I cannot believe he is selling them for $103. Quatrac rear tires are $123.78 ea.

Cobwebs, before I name them I'm gonna talk to the service mgr and store mgr- they weren't around, We'll see if he doesn't look at a client whose bought from there and had all work done there as loyal, then... ARtraveler, I think you are right about doing the rear, sure does seem to be a pain. I am going to check for tires at your alls places and see about getting it done elsewhere. Even tho I am from Chi-town I may just have to take a trip to Lamontster Garage. would be fun to get away. Cause they sure do treat people right there! HAHA

I happened to check the TIRERACK website and the Riken Raptor HR (which I have on my RT & LOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. )....has a delivered price of $97.50 ..... It's the lowest priced Quality tire - REAR TIRE ..... good luck .... Mike ..... If you go to LaMonster, call them first and ask if that tire can be sent to His shop for mounting.

A year and a half ago, I paid my dealer $198.00 ( 2 hrs. @ $99 ) for rear tire installation; I supplied the tire of my choice. The invoice was marked "install customer supplied tire", presumably to absolve the dealer of any issues with BRP for not pushing OEM rubber.

If you make the trip to Lamonsters Garage you will like it. We have always been treated fair. And...they know what they are doing.

I just got the Altrax for $110, took the tire off myself and had it broken down, mounted, & balanced, all for $20!! I will say I haven't yet found the secret to taking that rear tire off without having a bear of a time with belt alignment!! But I got it!

After I got the whole belt alignment and tension thing figured out it (never had to do it with a jet ski as it was just engine, shaft then impeller) it unlocked the rest for me. There are several videos on how to do this.
And it is not that hard to do, it just takes the time to overcome that voiding the warranty fear before you start turning wrenches; at least with me that is what was holding me back for a little while.
After I had the re-frame done, I figured anything bad would be blamed on it from that point on and they would void the warranty, and that overcame my fear of turning wrenches on it. That and every dealer and tire place I called refused to mount my tires for me.
I finally broke down and bought that Harbor Freight ATV Lift Jack and Jack Stands and it was history from there, and glad that I did it too, as I have found out that most of BRP's dealerships aren't worth their weight. I am glad after 2 years into my Spyder that I did find one that can help me out when needed. I have to drive past 2-3 other dealerships on my way to Grantsville, Pa, but they are well worth it. They really helped me out with getting the alignment done on the front end and also spotted another reframe issue that I had. One tie rod all the way in the other all the way out.

The secret is to remove the REAR Schock Bolt ..... this gives you the extra slack so that the Adjusters won't have to be touched .... good luck ... Mike

I admire and am in awe of you DIYers- especially for the back tire! Taking off the fronts won't be a problem. I'm doing my homework to get this done .I'll keep you all in the loop. Thx for all the help and suggestions.
