Is the base F3 the sportiest model?

You want the F3S with the 89T rear sprocket...The 89T rear sprocket was BRP way of increasing performance...AND IT DOES...Just ask anyone that has one...You may have never owned a motorcycle with 6 speeds...Top end speed loss is minimal...I just wish I could change my RTS from the 79T set up to the 89T for the performance gain...larryd

I've been to that web site before. Very handy information. I think, in this case, I'd prefer the smaller sprocket, as this is a highway beast.

Ryker Rally would be the sportiest because of it's dirt capabilities.

The RYKER is NOT a dirt bike by any means.
Also it is an entry level machine he would be best with the F3S

Or up a tooth on the front....one tooth on the front equals several on the rear. Did that mainly on my KLR for the highway.

No, it is not a DIRT BIKE as such but with an enclosed drive shaft and ability to pretty much turn off the nanny, it is a great gravel road bike. I do agree though that the F3S is a better choice in his case. The Ryker was an "entry level" Spyder for me, for the price as much as anything. But it was not for me a touring machine.

Flying through this thread quickly - I only saw 1 other person mention it but it's a HUGE factor based on your discussion.

The F3S (looks like the base but is the "Sport" model) is the ONLY Spyder that comes with "SPORT" mode which will turn the "Nanny" WAY down - not off. The Base F3 an the F3S look the same - and are the lightest Spyders built today - BUT only the F3S has the additional SPORT mode. Based on what you are saying/asking - I would say the F3S will be worth the extra $ to you. Not only do you get the cruise, slightly upgraded shoocks/etc - but the bigger deal is the rear Pulley size and most importantly the SPORT mode.

If looking used - 2015/2016 F3S does NOT have SPORT mode - but does have the sportier pulley and cruise. Starting in 2017 the Daytona and F3S get SPORT mode standard - no other Spyder has it even as an option.

The Ryker Rally and/or the Ryker 900 Sport would be fun if you are only looking for around town fun. The Rykers are shaft drive and fully automatic - twist and go - but very torquey and sporty - that said - the Spyder is hands down far more comfortable for longer runs and gives you the ability to shift yourself, etc.

Love my 2015 F3S - only wish I had Sport mode.

I agree the F3-S sport mode is desirable, but for $2500 more than the F3 base, its not worth it for me. I'll spend $200 and add the factory cruise and call it a day.

I traded my 2018 Ryker Rally in on my 2020 F3L. So the F3L is NOT the sportiest but I got it for touring. The Ryker, while a blast on dirt roads in TX, was not, IMHO, great for the open highway. I love the CVT on my Vespa, no so much on the Ryker. However, the power from the 900 in the light Ryker was great. Turn off the Nanny and it was a hooligan!
And BTW, I've listed my F3L for sale for $19,995.

I think you mean the larger sprocket = faster acceleration. I would think top speed would be the same as that is set by BRP, not by the equipment capabilities.

If you can find an older model, the F3S was available with the SM6 manual transmission. Lighter and sportier.

Maybe so but it is a slug when it comes to power the F3 has a much larger engine, the Ryker is not a dirt bike
