Default When & what's needed for first Oil Change? 2022 RTL

I just realized that I might need to do an oil change on my 2022 RTL.
How many miles for the first oil change?
How many quarts does it take?
Which filters do I need? 2022 RTL

First oil change is at 3000 miles. Every 9300 miles or once a year, whichever comes first, after that.

The XPS oil kit makes it easy as it has all you need. Owners manual has lots of info about the Spyder.

At 3000 miles I changed my oil and filter. I was very happy with having the filter and seal Baja Ron sent me. I noticed that one of my original drain plug o-rings was split so it was good to have those replacements on hand. I also found at this time my brake fluid looked like crap. I ordered a set of Speedbleeders for the front and rear calipers, purchased a quart of DOT 4 brake fluid and easily handled that job too. This forum has been very helpful and I appreciate all the great advice on how to care for and feed my Spyder.

I wonder how many people never read the owners manual? A lot of good info in it.

By the time someone replies with everything you need to change the oil, you'll probably decide that you'll take it to a dealer.
Large socket, extension and ratchet for the filter cover. 36mm.
Small flat head screwdriver for push pin retainers.
Replacement mirror mounts if unlucky, or Slingmods magic mirror kit after removing the mirrors.
Torx bit kit for retaining screws on side panel.
Torx and allen bit kit for drain plugs, and probably replacement gold plugs so it's easier next time.
O-rings from dealer or BajaRon. What are there, 5 or 6? All different sizes. I use mine for 2 change cycles.
2 crush washers for drain plugs.
Get 6 quarts of oil, your choice, 10w40 for most, or if you think like me, 4 10w40, 2 20w50. Mine takes 5.25, some have needed a bit more. Review the other oil threads, there are as many opinions on oil as there are belly buttons. Some are innies, some are outies, and lots are full of lint. Castrol, Valvoline, Shell Advance, even the ubiquitous WalMart Supertech are all fine.
Oil filter, dealer, Amazon, or BajaRon.
3 hours of your time the first time.
I've been wrenching on bikes for over 50 years. This one is the most ridiculous I've ever changed oil on. BUT... the 998 original OG version was even worse, so...

No mirror removal on ‘22 owned by OP … this nuance replaced by another.

If you were able to remove the panels on an older Spyder, it's easier on the 2020+ RTs. Once you do it and understand how they're removed, you're good to go. The mirrors never have to be removed.

I would recommend to have the dealer do the first oil change as they should also go back over the pre sale inspection to make sure everything is still good, after that do it your self unless you plan on doin the inspection and adjustments your self as well but you will probably need a manual for that. Plus they should do any new firmware updates that are needed.
