One of my all time favorite artists. Put on some great concerts. Second best thing to ever come out of Canada. Got Gord's Gold on my cruisin' playlist. RIP Gord.

I enjoy his music still. RIP Gordon, your music and your talent will be missed. At least thru your recordings you can still ride along with me.

I was sad when I learned of this - I too enjoyed much of his music. If you're a you tube person, search out John Prine - House of Strombo - he dedicates a song to Gordo. Two musical legends there.
RIP Gordo. Thanks for the ride.

There is a little town in Arizona named Carefree. As the story goes, Gordon was in Arizona and driving on the Carefree Highway and made a note of that name. Later a song about his long lost love used Carefree Highway as its title and in the lyrics. I was riding the trike on that highway a few months ago and that song came my radio. Got my attention. It will now always be a special part of my riding.
RIP, Gordon.....

He has given birth to some future legends too….. have a listen to his daughter, Meredith Moon. A fabulous guitar and banjo player who sings traditional American folk with a twist. Have a listen to her playing Darlin’ Corey.

Listening to Gordon Lightfoot's, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, brought back some memories for me.
I ran a leathercraft store in Duluth for many years. One of our customers was Capt. McSorely from the Edmund Fitzgerald. Apparently, he like to pass some of his sailing time doing a bit of leatherwork. The times I served him as a customer, I found him to be an interesting and cordial person.

I was reading an article in a local Toronto paper yesterday where they reported that for the first time since the Edmund Fitzgerald tragedy (to commemorate that tragic day), the church bells of the Mariners Church of Detroit rang 30 times. The first 29 of course for the crew, the 30th for Gordon. What a wonderful and classy tribute. Well done. RIP Gordon.
