Default New Hyper Silver RT , traded F3L

Just traded my 22 F3L for a RT limited. After riding the old style and new style RT’s for many 10’s of thousands of miles, I switched to the F3 Limited last year because “initially” I felt it offered a far more relaxed riding position when I took it for an extended test ride.
However, after really starting to rack up the miles on the F3 I found I missed the upright riding position and oddly, my back was really aching. I added the driver back rest but never completely alleviated the lower back pain. I am 260 pounds and 6 foot two…… additionally, getting on and off the F3 proved to be nowhere near as easy as the RT for my knees which I’ve had multiple operations on. The wind protection was “OK“ but ended up putting a Madstad adjustable windshield on it which cut the wind down significantly but certainly did not add to the aesthetics of the Spyder.
Thus I have switched back to the RT and after several hundred miles could not be happier. Different strokes for different folks. The F3 was fun but very glad to be back on my RT…… if anybody has any questions about the LINQ rack that I installed on the back as shown, there’s some additional information in the How To: section below.

I also had a 2014 RT and loved it. The only thing that I didn't like was the rear trunk not being removable. So I picked up a 2012 RSS. That bike was a joy to ride, but the heat was pretty bad. I sold the RT and traded the RSS on a 2016 F3T. That was a really happy medium for me. It seemed to give me the best of both worlds. But i was a bit unsatisfied with the amount of storage. When the new 2020+ RT models came out, that seems to be just the right combination. Plenty of room for storage, and a removable trunk for the sporty look. I just need to add a sway bar so I can see how it compares in the twisties to the 2016 F3L special series that I had and transferred over to my wife. I do wish the digital display and especially the gas gauge was more accurate on the newer bikes.
