Arrow 2020 RTL - how/when does the Power Steering work?

I have not put on many miles yet but do have a question about the power steering?

Does it work like on a car or does it really start after you are moving IE when stopped and motor running should you really feel it?

Mine does not really seem to work until I'm moving , would that be normal?

    TIA

Power steering on an automobile takes tremendous amount of hydraulic pressure to turn the wheels while the vehicle is standing still. I would imagine the same for the Spyder and mine acts the same way as yours so I think it’s normal.

All ya has to do is roll it under power, 1st or Reverse.
Ride safe; shiny side up, greasy side down.

    From the manual I have:

"The Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) provides a computer controlled, variable power assist, achieved by an electric motor to optimize the amount of steering input required by the rider.

The DPS uses the following parameters:
    – Battery voltage
    – Engine RPM
    – Vehicle speed
    – Torque sensor
    – Steering angle sensor.

The amount of steering assist provided is dependent on the handlebar effort (steering torque), steering angle and the vehicle speed.

The greater the handlebar effort (steering torque), the greater the assist will be.

The slower the vehicle speed, the greater the assist will be.

When the vehicle is operated in reverse, power steering assist will decrease as vehicle speed in-creases.

NOTE: If available electrical power is limited due to low battery amperage, loose terminals or excessive electrical system loads that reduce available voltage to the DPS, steering assist will be re- duced."

The DPS DOES WORK when the vehicle is in park & at a standstill; you just have to exert enought force to activate it.

My 2020 RT works at a dead stop with the machine running, there's more power assist at slower speeds, diminishing as speed increases for more "feel" and safety. If you don't notice the power steering assist the most at a dead stop somethings wrong. I can turn my steering stop to stop at a stop with minimal effort.

    From my 2020 Owners Manual,

    Dynamic Power Steering
    (DPS)

    The DPS (Dynamic Power Steering)
provides a computer controlled, variable power assist, achieved by an electric motor to optimize the amount of
steering effort required by the rider.
The steering assist level is dependent
of the handlebar effort, the steering
    angle and the vehicle speed.
When vehicle is in the reverse gear,
power steering assist will decrease as
    vehicle speed increases.
