I entered my VIN but I'm not clear as what the search is telling me.

Your 2021 will need a new switch and spring. Call your dealer.

I had my recall taken care of yesterday. They added to spring to the switch and it didn’t take long at all.

Got my recall letter today. Dealer has to order the parts (for 2021 RT), and says it could take a few weeks. You’d think BRP would have the switches/springs ready to go right out after this much time. Oh well… so far, my brake light is behaving. I ride in a group and they’ll tell me if it is sticking.

At the 9300 mile oil change last month I asked the dealer about the recall. He did not know anything about it at the time but looked it up.
He told me he would order the part(s) in and call me when he got them.
I have yet to hear from him but received the official recall notice from BRP yesterday. My brake light is still working fine.
Will schedule the service soon.. but will make sure he has the part(s) on hand so that my vehicle isn’t held captive while waiting on part(s)… as I have read on the forum happening to other riders.

Yep I'm on the list at my dealer to get a switch. He has 18 on order at this time. Oh well. Will continue to ride it, and keep checking the brake lights. Tom

Got my letter over the weekend. I'm going to call the dealer and schedule it. What a pain but definitely needs to be fixed. I'm also going to ask about the sprocket. My original was replaced with the white one so I want to know if that one is still good or if that also needs to be updated.

AT least y'all are able to schedule an appointment. I called my dealer yesterday, and I was told to "drop it off" on Tuesday (they're closed on Monday).

He tells me that they will have it back to me "by Wednesday afternoon." I do not feel good about this arrangement.

I will update when it's done.

Me too. But thanks to this Forum, I called BRP two weeks ago, and was told that my VIN was in the recall. I Called the dealer (I just bought this 2020 in Late Feb this year), and they had me in their owner database, and yes they knew of the recall. The went ahead and ordered parts.

I got my recall email from BRP yesterday. 2 weeks after I got the spring installed and 3 weeks after I called my dealer to schedule the appointment.

Called to get my switch on order. Was told they need to see the bike before they can order it. Then of course wait for it to arrive. Have to wait two weeks for first appointment. No appointment time given as on the day its first come first serve. Said should only be about an hour wait. I'll see about that. Trip planned a week later, more throughout the summer. Paddy

Some dealers are installing a simple design spring, others replacing the entire switch. Odd, guess either or works.

It depends on the year model. 2020 & 2021 gets the new switch and a spring where the 2022 & 2023 get only the spring.

Would anyone happen to have the part number of the spring by itself?

I have a new 2022 RT-L, and the two dealers near me are not confidence inspiring. I'd rather buy the spring online and install it myself.

    Thanks!

You will find that unless the recall is done, checked off, & reported to BRP/recorded against your Spyder's VIN by a dealer, it won't be recorded as ever having been done on your Spyder, which may make a significant difference if/when it ever comes to resale time &/or you have an accident that the brakes may have contributed to...

Effectively, once something becomes a Recall, it MUST be done by a Dealer to satisfy the legal requirements surrounding recalls.

Had it done last week... about a two week wait for parts before taking it in.
