What's your 2022 RTL getting for gas mileage?

I just bought a new 2022 RTL. Second fill-up and I got 24 MPG.
I was just at Bike Week and met a guy there that had a 2021 RTL, he said he tuned the engine and he's getting over 330 miles on a tank.
Was he BS'ing me? Or is that a thing?
I'm going back to Alaska next year and I need to go over 250 miles between gas stations.

I don't buy 330 mpg unless he is running around at 35 mph. I haave only hit 40mpg once and that was on a road that was 55 speed limit for part and 45 for part. I normally get mid 30's for mpg

Depending on how you ride your mileage should get much better. But don't expect 250 miles on a tank.

It usually takes a few thousand miles before these engines bed in properly & start returning their best mileage, so what you've noticed is pretty much par for the course at this stage of your Spyder's life - give it 3-4,000 miles more and you should be getting somewhat better mileage than 24mpg! As for the other bit, most 1330 Spyders probably don't ever get too much better mileage than about 40mpg, give or take a couple, what's that work out to on how much useable gas your tank can hold? (BTW, you need to leave at least some gas in the tank, cos if you run it too low you'll be damaging/destroying the fuel pump/injection system! ) As for the other, you'll hafta make up your own mind about the BS bit...


Ps: 'Miles per tank' of gas is a useless measure without quantifying all the variables Most who really want to compare fuel usage/performance in a meaningful way will use something like 'Miles per Gallon', 'Kms per Litre', or maybe even 'Litres per 100 km'.

On my 18 I got about 28.
He also said the new bike holds 7.5 gallons. compared to about 5 on my old bike

We are seeing 30-35 mpg. Depends on load, wind speed, and terrain; I plan my fuel stops every 175 miles. Mileage is different every ride.

You don't want to run it too low on gas as that's what cools the fuel pump.
On my 2020 I can easily get 200 miles out of a tank but wouldn't push it much further than that.

I only have about 3,500 miles on mine and am seeing my mileage in the upper 20's. While I would love to see it in the mid 30's but, I somehow highly doubt that I'll see it.

Also when people start posting about the mileage that they get, take notice of the bike that they are riding and year models. Everything makes a difference.

2020 RTL here. The more you twist the throttle, the lower the mpg's go. I routinely get mid to high 30's here in Florida. And 40mpg a time or two. Flat roads here help. 45mph to 55 mph seem to be the sweet spot. Interstates at 65 to 70 drops it down. Also have found that raising the windshield doesn't help mpg. Tom

Did an iron butt a couple of weeks ago on my 2021 RTL. I got about 30 mpg on it. That was traveling with cruise control set at 75-78 mph most of the time.

330 miles would equate to 47mpg from completely full to bone dry. I am very skeptical that even at 35mph a Spyder would get that kind of mileage.

24 mpg !!!!! .... are you using 6th gear at all ????? ..... When I bought my 2014 RT ( new ) in the first 4000mi ... I was averaging 34 mpg ... now it's in the 38 to 40 mpg range ....depending how hot I drive in the twistie's .... JMHO ..... Mike

Here again there is a difference in your (older) year models and the newer (2020 +) year models. 24 to 27 is what I got in mine when I 1st got it.
I have not saw anyone much post that they are getting 40m mpg in the newer bikes, Rt Limited. In my area everything is a little on the hilly side but not over mountainous.

I have kept up with every drop that I have put into mine. I do not ride overly aggressive and try to watch the rpm's where I shift at, but I do not baby it either. I started out shifting around 3600 rpm's and now am trying to do around 3,000 rpm's just to see if the mileage will increase. Like I said above I only have about 3,500 miles on mine now so maybe someone who has more miles and a 2020 + will chime in and post how many miles are on their spyder.

Ok Let me start over (and eat a little crow) I just went and looked at all of my records and now I am getting over 30 mpg with my best at 37 mpg on a trip. I do hope the mpg's go up more as the miles go up.

As for my starting mpg it was more about 26 to 27 mpg.

I guess I need to check my facts "Before" posting as I'm getting older. Sorry for the rant and I'm not above admitting it when I'm mistaken.

I have a 2021 Spyder RTL that now has about 13,000 miles on the odo. I'm a speed limit + 5 mph kind of rider, usually favoring modest acceleration rates. I take pride in "smoothness." I'll typically upshift around 3000 rpm. I'll goose it on just about every ride, but just for short intervals. I get about 35 mpg reliably. That translates to a range of 245 miles, but I haven't tested the usable fuel capacity. I don't recall what sort of mileage I got when the engine was new. Ironically, my 2021 Toyota Camry gets better mileage than the trike, and I drive it about the same way as the Spyder. Like they say, "Your mileage may vary."

I have a 2021 RT Base when I drove it from Alabama to NJ at a steady pace of 72 MPH It would show on the display 240 -230 miles when I filled up . I think I got around 34 MPG.

I recently bought a Nissan Versa ... it has an " avg. mpg " display ... It usually reads 39.4 MPG .... However it actually got 34 mpg using proper math calculations .... these devices can't be relied on for accurate info ...... JMHO ... Mike

It says its a 7 gallon tank but doesn't appear to be and BRP wont answer my questions.

It is a 7 gal. tank ..... however some of that is above the filler hole and this prevents it from ever Completely getting Filled ..... Mike
