    Default Don't Get Old!

Here's one for those of us who have not taken the advice given in the Title...

    The I-DON’T-WANA'S

I’ve got the I-DON’T-WANA’s, And I just can’t figure why.

It comes along right after, The I-DON’T-EVEN-WANA-TRY’s.

By the time I have recovered, ANOTHER-DAY’S-GONE-BY!

Then I find that they went out, And FOUND-ANOTHER-GUY!

I just can’t keep my eyelids up, As my THOUGHTS-BEGIN-TO-FADE.

    I find myself abandoning, ALL-THE-PLANS-THAT-I-HAVE-MADE.

Could it be I’m getting old, And THAT’S-JUST-THE-WAY-IT-IS?

What a shame that I am slowing down, ‘Cause I-WAS-ONCE-A-WHIZ!

So, now I have a great excuse, For BEING-NOT-SO-FAST.

And it no longer bothers me, When I-COME-IN-DEAD-LAST.

Now if you need assistance, I’D-LIKE-TO-HELP-WITH-THAT.

    But I’ve got the I-DON’T-WANA’s, and I’m GOING-TO-TAKE-A-NAP!

    I might be getting older.
But I refuse to grow up.

    The older I get.
    The faster I was.

My mind says lets do this.
    My body says "ya right"

EXACTLY! I loved those signs on road trips from San Diego to Topeka to visit grandparents and other relatives. Burma-Shave always impressed me as a boy. I think those signs stayed with everyone who saw them.

Nostalgia is not bad. It's just today that happened a long time ago. Kids with their cell phones have no idea what they missed.

Oh, I think you do. At least 50% of that is in your mind. Don't let your body overtake your mind. You've got many spider miles to go.

A waitress at the local coffee shop asked me when my birthday is. When I told her she asked, "How old will you be, 61?" I said "More." "62, 63?" "Nope, I'll be 79. Can't believe it myself." "You're not, no way!" I was tempted to tell her, "I may be old enough to be your grandfather, but I'm still young enough I could be your lover!" But I kept the thought to myself.

Oh, I've tried that a couple of times and it doesn't come out as intended. For the most part, it hurts like hell or just scares the hell out of you.

And let's not forget those famous Wall Drug signs that used to be between MN and Wall Drug on I 95. They started at the MN border and continued ad nauseam the whole way.

Back in the day (1985), I counted over 350 of them. Interesting, the first time I saw them...less so on subsequent trips.

Currently Owned: 2019 F3 Limited, 2020 F3 Limited: SOLD BOTH LIMITEDS in October of 2023.

    Previously : 2008 GS-SM5 (silver), 2009 RS-SE5 (red), 2010 RT-S Premier Editon #474 (black) 2011 RT A&C SE5 (magnesium) 2014 RTS-SE6 (yellow)

MY FINAL TALLY: 7 Spyders, 15 years, 205,500 miles

IT HAS BEEN A LONG, WONDERFUL, AND FUN RIDE.
