Sorry everyone, I tried to fix the Day 5 -35 attachments display, but had a system drop-out right in the middle of it & lost/garbaged it all! Working on re-instating the pics in a usable manner with Iso, but again, my apologies for the stuff up!

Btw, for those who didn't/haven't had a chance to see them yet, they're bloody good pics! I'm currently negotiating with the Child Bride about what we do/where we go on our next NZ visit, and the pics here in this thread from Iso have been very handy, and convincing aids!

Ok. For those folk interested I finally found that Round Tuit.

Reduced the photos per post hope it works better for ya.

Woke a little early this morning. O/s temp is 4C/40f outside ( its winter now here in Kiwiland ) so I have lit the fire.
Made a brew and lets get started.

    This set in Day 5.
Starts with the Whanganui River Road, up through all the small settlements and a lunch stop in Raetihi.
Then on up to Mount Ruapehu to the Turoa ski-field road end.

Quick stop at Ohakune for the essential supplies of another round of those yummy Chocolate eclairs.
Then the lazy way home with a pit stop in Hunterville.

This was a full tank ride with the petrol warning light just popping on as I approached my home town.

I was riding along trying to remember if that 5l petrol can was in the saddlebag or on the shelf in the shed watching the last of those bars dropping off.

So hats on boys and girls, as we are off.

Going to that mountain in the background and back to that hill that I live on in the foreground.

    Road end.

Its a live and active Volcano. Has a bubbling crater lake.
It erupted last year and all the snow was gone. Wrecked the ski season.

    --------------------------------------------------

Some years earlier I was hunting in the bush line for Deer with my mate around the side a bit North.
We were sitting on the edge where the rocks start looking up.
We could just make out the Skiers zigzagging down in the rifle scopes between scanning for a Deer.

    Neck Minit... Well it erupted!
Big rumble and smoke and ash heading skywards.
    Then Lava started pouting down.

Me and my mate had followed a river up....Where is that Lava going to go?
    We gapped it.
Took 2 1/2 hrs quiet walking up and 40 minutes sprint down. No trouble.
Saw several of the target English Red Yearling Spiker's on the way down, none on the way up.

    Anyway I digress...
    ----------------------------------------------------------

Been up all these tops more than once over the years.

    Mount Tongariro

    20230525_141741.jpg

That Mountain in the background in the photo below.
    Its Egmont or Taranaki.
Did a summer climb up there several times when I was in short pants.

That Dawson Falls trip I posted is on that mountain.

    Im going somewhere tomorrow.
Leave pass stamped and I finally got the F3 way up in the air and swapped out the sway bar at a mates place. Gotta say it was Ye Ha that was worth it on the way home.

Not sure where but hopefully avoiding those corners that dont get much sun these-days as it will be low temps. Ice is no fun.

The tank is full. Check the tyre pressures and I off. Countdown started to Thunderbird's are go.

I'd try and fix that odd attachment fir you Iso, but after my last 'fix', I'm not sure I want to even TRY to touch it!

Thanks for the story and all the pics - it's already gone into the 'ammo file' for my plan to get the Child Bride back over to NZ to do some Spyder touring, altho I think we might wait for Summertime?!

Loved the story about the volcano - nothing like a bit of motivation to speed you on your way!!
Were those English Red Yearling Spiker's you saw also on their way outta there??

    Thanks again! :thumbip:

    Cheers BC pegasus and Peter.

Re the attachment. I had a go but , in the end I labeled it so it should be ok.
It to me about 2 hrs and 3 brews to post to get to that online. Speed typist that I am.

We are looking at a hearty 4C to 15C tomorrow. It will be sub up there. So thinking I will head SE and not north.

November on will be better for you guys.

Those deer were a bit startled, but standing still watching a couple of Ninja Wannabees - Yobbos smashing through like there was no tomorrow. I didn't look back once. Left them to it.

    Delightful. Thanks!

Here in the U.S. a pastry's "creme" or "cream" filling often, usually, has never been near a cow. If there IS any milk in the stuff called cream, it was in the truck that drove past the factory creating the stuff that is stuffed in pastries. Some independent bakeries use cow-juice. Few and far between.

    Truly an udder disgrace.

Wow. No proper cream. Udder disgrace indeed. Its everywhere here.

What is cream in New Zealand?
The basic standard for cream in Aus and NZ contains 35% fat, so it's quite heavy – it equates roughly to the UK definition of whipping cream.

Drop or 2 of Vanilla Essence and whip it with a beater. Good on the lips but may sit on the hips.

I tried some out of a can once. Yeah-nah. Not for me.

    Pleased you enjoyed the rides.
