Default Do you like riding your Spyder during motorcycle rallies ??

I like riding my RTL during Reno's annual Street Vibrations Motorcycle Rally.

Not only is the region filled with great riding, but I just like to look at the many bikes that I encounter. Of course, I see the diehard Harley guys walk by my ride like it doesn't exist, BUT I also meet people who show genuine interest in her.

So it all balances out really.

Well, I have ridden all my life, and owned I'm sure over 50 motor cycles, from Cushman Scooters to Goldwings. I have never Owned a Harley, but I have worked on quite a few of them, and I am pretty sure if you're talking about Dependable, a Harley is nowhere Near at the top of the List. And no matter what kind of a name or sign is on a rider's shirt or jacket or hat, it won't make him any Smarter, Tougher, Or Better than anyone else. So... pay Them no mind, that speaks louder than cussing ....... lol

I have been going to rallies large and small for years. I have never had anyone care what I was riding, not even at the Venture rallies I used to attend. I go to meet other riders, hear the stories, see the bikes, and do some riding in a new area or in a familiar area. And I like to see the new models on display. I was at the BRP display at Sturgis for the 75th and had a real fun time and saw lots of people excited about the new F3. My motorcycle buying days are over but I still like to look and I talk to lots of people who want to know what I think about such and such a motorcycle. Not a Biker, but a motorcycle rider and have been for a long time.

    Default Enjoy Spyder Rydes

....I have enjoyed ryding the Spyder. I have 'wind therapy' trips as often as possible. I usually ryde the back roads and go at a slower pace. Since I am retired my life has slowed down a little bit.

The wife is good about keeping me busy. She has 'honey doos' all the time. Sometimes I feel like I'm going around in circles. I do enjoy most of the projects though. They give me a good feeling about life.

I enjoy the occasional Rally. I usually prefer the smaller rallies as I'm not much for large crowds... I've taken my Spyder to several rallies large and small and I've enjoyed the attention my F3 attracts (good and Bad)... I go to check out what there... I've been a MC Rider for 40 years... I don't care what I'm riding at the time. I'm just glad I'm still riding

Wife and I like the smaller rallies. It's more personable. Group rides are much smaller also. Tom
Baloo is my name. Spyders are my game. Well, it's a doo-bah-dee-doo, yes, it's a doo-bah-dee-doo, I mean a doo-bee, doo-bee, doo-bee, doo-bee, doo-bee-dee-doo. And, well, now. Ha ha! What have we here?

I only go to rallies to spend about 2 hours looking at the bikes. After that, I go riding. This is why I have never been to Daytona and only to Myrtle Beach once for the rally. I prefer to go some place where I have interesting sites to see and places to ride. I don't compare my bike to anyones and have nothing to show off. I do get ideas from the few that I observe closely, and pick up some upgrades or gear if necessary. But my main time is spent riding.

I do not like riding with large groups of people. I ride only with people I know or trust. To many crazy things happen at rallies. Mix drinking and riding and you have a mess.

I rode down to Main Street in Daytona yesterday. It was a beautiful day. Main Street was packed with every conceivable type of vehicle imaginable. More Spyders than I have seen in past years. Lots of Slingshots. One rider on a trike had his two poodles behind him. This year I didn’t see the pony in a side car or the two nuns on a trike flipping off the crowd. I don’t care what others ride, and they probably have the same sentiment about me.

I stopped group riding years ago. Two many ‘hotdoggers’ showing off and putting other riders’ safety at risk. If I don’t know who I am riding with, they don’t ride with me.

I didn't vote either way because we have yet to take it to any kind of rally or poker run. Here in the TX Panhandle, the Harley culture is so strong, it's difficult to feel welcome at any gathering where they show up in large numbers. That has been especially true when I roll in on one of the BMWs. I've learned to just enjoy the freedoms that come with riding solo with no one else dictating where I go, when or where I stop to take pictures, eat, just chill for a few minutes or how fast I need to go.

Those who say " I can't" will always be right.

I find that I like riding in large groups less and less as I get older and hopefully wiser. I've seen too many stupid things happen over the years in large groups. Unless you know the skill level of the people around you, you are taking a big risk. For the past 15 years, a bunch of us meet up annually somewhere out west and hang out for a week and ride. This year, it's Cody WY, last year it was Kanab, UT the year before we met in Orofino ID. Anyway, it's a smaller group - maybe 15-20 bikes, we've all ridden together for years and we just do our thing and don't bother anybody else (hopefully).
