Default Moving to a 2020 RTL from a 2013 RTL. What do I need to know?

I had a previous thread where I thought I might buy a 2018 and some suggested moving to a 2020+...so I did. I made a deal on a local 2020 RTL with a few upgrades and will take possession of it in a few days. Are there things I should be aware of with the newer model that vary from the 2013? I do not want to mess anything up right from the start (if that is even possible).

I will be listing my 2013 RTL for sale in the near future...I will list all the farkles at that time. I am located in San Antonio.

Always grateful for the knowledge base here!

.... you will discover the 1330 is way different from the 998 engine ...less maintenance, lower revs, quieter , better gas mileage etc. ..... good luck .... Mike

You will be happy with the 2020RTL. First thing I had to do when we bought ours was get the handlebars up and back closer to me, Lamonsters 2" riser kit fixed that. Any questions any time just ask, we have just short of 20K miles now.

Wish we were down in your country and riding. Damn Cold Here! Safe travels, Bill

I have over 100,000 miles with the 1330 motor. I have never added even one drop of oil between oil changes. You'll like the upgrade and be glad you went 2020+. Enjoy.

You're gonna like the heck out of it!!!
Relax and ride it up to Kerrville for some good riding. We heard there are a few Blue Bonnets popping out early due to the warm temps... running up to Willow City Loop tomorrow to see what we can see - albeit early.

Thanks all. The wife and I are looking forward to the new ride and will report on my new grin. I have loved my 2013 RTL and love the sleeker look of the 2020. A plus is that it has a few upgrades already!

I also went from a 2013 RT-S to a 2020 RTL in 2020. You will notice a difference in the ride pulling out of the lot. Moving up 2 generations in development is a big change.

+1 on the handlebar riser from Lamont. I rode 300 miles home from the dealer and it was the first mod I made. Unfortunately, most of the farkles you may have bought for the 2013 will not transfer to the 2020. But, the upgrade was worth it.

What is the difference between TSB and a recall? Are all these items covered under warranty?

The way it was explained to me was a recall is a mandatory fix, usually safety. TSB is if you gripe to the dealer they may fix the problem. Please correct me if I'm off track.

Bangorbob is correct. A safety recall is mandatory.
The TSB is a design flaw that is a voluntary repair.
    All are included under warranty.
In other words, for a safety recall the manufacturer will contact you and will continue to contact you or any subsequent owner until the design flaw has been corrected. The VIN is tracked throughout the history of the vehicle.
The TSB is covered under warranty, but only if the customer complains about the issue.
A specific example: The 2020 brake pedal recall MUST be completed. (Bulletin 2020-5)
On the other hand, if your mirrors shake, (Bulletin TST 137799) BRP will fix it on their dime, but only if you go to the dealer and tell them you have an issue with the mirrors. Once you make the issue known to your dealer, the repair is not negotiable, but they won't hunt you down to fix it.

    I hope this helps.

Thank you for this. I picked up my 2021 in the end of October last year. Got about 2200 miles on it now. But I will definitely be having some of those items look at when I take it in for the 3000 mile service.
