Default What's the Best Sounding Exhaust for my RTL?

I have been searching, looking and listening to video after video of exhaust systems for my 2016 RTL.

Seems the ones that sound the best to me are all for the Ryker or the F3.

    Voodoo sounds nice, wont work.
RLS Assassin series sounds nice, wont work.
The RLS Punisher for the F3 sounds better than the RTL.
Two Brothers sounds pretty nice. That might work.

I like it deep and not raspy. Has anyone found the perfect exhaust note without sacrificing power?

Akrapovic has the best all around sound. Others sound great when idling but get really loud in the highway.

I have an F3, with stock exhaust, and RLS cat delete, after struggling with the same issue as the topicstarter, mucho trail and error, I found that this is the best combo. not too loud, but just the sound as I like it.
Exhaustnotes are different for everyone, but for me this combo works.

Don't hesitate to contact Ricky from RLS, he's very helpfull

My 2020 RTL has an Akropovic exhaust, mated to an RLS Cat Delete pipe. Low and rumbly, loud with more than 50% throttle thru the gears.
Ride safe; shiny side up, greasy side down.

    best,

Best exhaust is in the "ear of the operator", mine is just fine the way it is. If I wanted it to sound like a Harley or a Caterpillar, I would not have bought a Spyder! .... .. Bill

After attending a few rallies and hearing various machines fire up and take off, I have come to the conclusion that the best-sounding exhaust system is ... STOCK.

Yeah, it's not really very inspiring, but the three-cylinder exhaust cadence is so ... industrial, and does not seem to be enhanced by making it louder.

I have not ridden near (or ON) any of the louder bikes to see how they are on the road, but based on what I hear from my wife's '17 RT, I really would not want much more.

RLS exhausts are raspy. I run a Two Bros with the stock cat. It sounds great and actually runs very quiet at highway speeds. It is louder running through the gears.

Two Bros is my other option. I contacted the guy from RLS and was interested to see if the Twin Kaos Series 2 was available for the RTL and he said the interest was not there for production. Sucks because I like the sound of it on this video.

    .....
Yeah, not only would there be not enough interest for production of pipes like that for an RT, but having tried other mufflers that were of a similar (short) length as the one pictured, I can tell you that if that's the Twin Kaos Series 2 pictured, then as shown it is simply too short for an RT with built in panniers, and I can tell you that the bottom of the RHS pannier WILL melt if you run a short muffler like that under it for too long!! Do you really need to ask me how I know that little snippet of knowledge for a fact?!

So I'd suggest that anyone running a muffler (any muffler) that doesn't have its final exhaust gas outlet/exit directed down & out away from the pannier & located far enough behind/away from the bottom trailing edge of the fixed pannier simply won't have a pannier for too long after & possibly won't even have a bike left if the heat on the pannier reaches ignition temperature!! Unless maybe they never ride for more'n about 10 minutes at a time!!

I feel the same way. I bought the Crusher muffler and it was not for me. It has nice sound when idle, but it was a bit loud at higher speeds. Fortunately I was able to sell it, albeit I took a loss, but at least the gentleman that bought it likes it.

I second, or third K80's comment. I ran the gamut of aftermarket exhausts. Last being Tri-Ovals on my Victory. We are liking the quiet of the RT-L.

One thing I haven't seen talked about on this forum (or at least this thread)- the Victory crowd (and I'm sure other makes as well) on the forums I followed, one way they modified their mufflers was to gut them and replace with some other innards. I am not reccommending this, nor have I tried it on any of the bikes I've owned, but you may want to research to see if that has been done on Spyders?

    Just a thought.

I hope you find a sound that works for you.

Hell dont be a Pussy. Time to step up Dude. No 1/2 measures. Man Up.

Get some straight open pipes sorted and bent up to fit the Spyder frame with mounts in the correct spots.

Then you could join the Exceptionally Super Coowell Potato Factory Dudes on their extended road trips to the local Coffee Shop.

I run a Two Brothers Racing exhaust connected to the RLS Polished Cat Delete pipe. LOVE the sound !! The combination provides a nice sound and is not obnoxiously loud ....

.... probably because I don't hear low frequencies very well, LOL.
