Default My 2013 RTL just burned up!

Hi folks, left Florida City FL, just didn't have enough power.
Drove 5 miles, turned around, went back to the motel.
Got ready to load it in the trailer, all of a sudden it started burning in the instrument area. We got it out with three fire extinguishers.
    It's toast!
I had checked with my dealer when I bought it used with 11,000 miles, they said the recall was done concerning the overheating and fires.
I did notice that my left foot was pretty warm before parking it!

Sorry to hear about the loss. Fuel leak?

Sounds like it was pretty hard to put out if it required 3 extinguishers.

Sorry to hear about your troubles. But on the bright side you now have the perfect excuse to upgrade.

If you still have the spyder's serial number, use it to check and confirm the recall was actually performed. "Trust but verify."

If it had big black vents under the mirrors it was probably done, but still check. So sorry to hear about your loss, just glad you weren't heading down the road.

You didn't say how many miles it has NOW .... I'm sure you had insured ..... if so I suggest you use the insurance money and get a used RT with a 1330 motor ( from 2014 on ) .... glad you weren't injured.... JMHO .... Mike

Sorry to hear about this. I see you are in NC. What area of the state are you from? We have a local group called Triangle spyders. If there is anyway we can help, let me know.

Fuel leakage would create a strong noticeable odor. The problem sounds like electrical malfunction. You can’t rule out the potential of rodent damage creating an electrical short circuit leading to a fire. There are few causes of fire and electrical problems are most commonly causes.

Good advice here. The 1330's have a very good record. No fires that I am aware of.
