Does the mini mate, leisure or time out get wet inside if put away wet?

I know this is a dumb question. For those of you that have the mini mate, leisure or time out version of camper trailer, if it rains all night and you pack up to leave in the morning, does everything inside need to be in dry bags, totes, etc and does the bed area etc all get wet because the canvas is all wet? I assume yes. So if I camp in the rain the first night, the carpet bedding is soaked for the next night and everything below is wet. We’ve always used a nice instapop tent in a traditional pull trailer. Therefore tent can be rolled up in tarp and placed inside and then packed around. Wife was asking questions and I figured I’d ask. The pros are much faster to set up, equal dry affect since my tent is gortex, negative everything gets wet if it rains the night before vs tent just being rolled up. Does everything inside get wet is the canvas is wet being put away?

I have a leisure-lite and I do not have a moisture issue after a rain. I make sure that everything is zipped up (including the doors) before lowering the camper. I also use Camp-dry on the seams once a year. The only problem I ever had was ryding through a long heavy rain once. It leaked in from the bottom through the channels where the floor is screwed into the horizontal channels. I fixed that issue by sealing the ends of the channels.

If you pack it up wet, Y of course. If you have to pack up in a rain storm cover the canvas with a tarp and slap the canvas to knock off as much dampness as you can. Before folding it up lay another small tarp down and cover everything inside that you don't want to get damp. It's not 100% perfect but it works. Open it up and dry it out at the first opportunity, lunch stop, or dinner stop. Don't allow it to stay folded up and damp for a long time. Mold will grow. Good luck and happy travels.

Can't speak for the others but the Time Out gets wet/damp depending on the rate of rain fall when storing the canopy away. I collapse the tent, store it in the space provided, then get the two ends folded up to keep them from getting any further wet. Will stop early the next day and get camper reset up and opened up to dry out before nighttime arrives. I absolutely detest tear down in the rain, will delay departure in the morning if able to so as not to take down while actively raining. Morning dew is also a issue about everything not being dry when initially stored away.

It normally takes me about 20 minutes to drop tent and store properly for travel. When it's raining and I have to be quick I can have everything covered in less than five minutes from starting to drop the tent. Hope this helps.

Always keep an eye on your radar. Your cellphone weather app radar that is. Go around the weather if you can or if caught in it hold up until it blows over. If you chose a quality campground to stay in they'll generally have dayrooms with TV and plenty of reading material and games to play while you wait out the storm. We waited out a 3 dayer once. Boooooring!!!

Thanks guys. I’ll give you an example that happened this past summer. We headed to the ADK’s then to Vermont, then green and white mts to Maine. Looped back on the southern route. Don’t know if you remember or not but I swear it rained every other night we were out in late july. With the tent it’s a pain tearing down in the rain each morning. We only had 2 weeks and in all honesty with this new reservation system that’s starting to happen across the country to enter many parks we can’t just stay if weathers bad. Anymore reservations need made weeks in advance on the east coast. We set up and tore down for 5 days straight till we got to the white mountains. Had to do it in rainy mornings. Stayed there for 2 days. Went to green stayed for 2 days. Went to Maine stayed for 3 days at same spot. Then took 2 days to get home again set up tear down each day. We had everything in dry bags so it was fine just a pain tear down in morning in rain. Set up is fine in rain. Just looking at something a bit easier. I understand it needs opened each day if damp. That’s not the problem. I just was wondering how the water would build up ontop of the canvas and then run down to bottom of the trailer onto the storage supplies during the day till it got set up. Also wondered if the bed carpet would get wet which even with dry sleeping bag and pads would be miserable soaking up water while you sleep. I’m not totally ready to jump but just thinking and so is wife.

Sounds like you're doing as well as can be expected. I like the drybag thing. We use small snap lid plastic storage containers. Check out Thermal Rest mattresses. They are waterproof. We have the 4"ers. Mondo Kings.
