The struts on both the seat and trunk lid started to weaken last year. Mine is a 2016 RT. Of course it wasn't going anywhere due to the Red Dust of Death. So it sat, for six months. I'm not paying CanAm $80. when they knowingly put out defective parts. A stick or door stop is just fine.

I think I mentioned this before. Take the "shock" to an RV supply There are all kinds of those used in RVs. I think you might get lucky.

I use a chop stick cut in half as a prop stick just under the lip of the lid, between the lift hinges.. $0.00; my kind of solution.

    I have a 2021 S2S and I don't have a strut. Am I supposed to have one?

You have one, you just can't see it. It is on the right side (standing behind the machine) behind and under the hinge. You have to remove the passenger back rest to get to it.

My 2020 RT top case strut starting failing intermittently after reading this thread, so somebody on here jinxed me.
After failing to find a replacement on McMaster-Carr, I ordered a new OEM strut, and when it came I called SUSPA to see if this is the same pressure as the original one, and they said yes. SUSPA was very open and helpful. I asked if they had another strut that was same dimensions with a few more Newtons pressure, and they said Yes...but it's only 2 Newtons more and costs $102, so I installed my $75 OEM strut and it works like it should. No idea how long it'll last, but the original one starting failing at 3 years and 11,000 miles. Now I'll take my official BRP stick out of the top case and store it for the next time the strut fails.

My new to me 21 RT top case appears to not have a ‘shock’ mounted at all. Is this possible? I kind of like the door stop route too…

Oh, there is one in there behind the passengers backrest on the right side.

OOOPS! Trick question, 21RT doesn't come with OEM top case.

See post #30 from K80 and post #33 from Knizar, Cleg. I assume you have an RT-L (not just an RT) since you have a top case?

Here is an aftermarket trunk replacement, it says seat but those are the trunk part numbers posted in the item information.

The amazon support (lift support depot) is much stronger than the BRP support. With a luggage rack you have to push it to close, with the BRP one a gust of wind closed it and I had mine replaced already.
Much better & cheaper! Mcmastercarr doesn't make one that small to replace it.

Can I safely assume this is for the 2020 + models? Again, this thread has gone between year models and they are different.

The part number on Amazon is the same as on BRP parts page for 2020+ RT.

For the trunk problem, Pierre at canamspyderaccessories.com has a $35 piece that you can add onto the hinge area to hold it up. Pops into place when you lift it up and then you just pop it out when ready to close it.... I don't know that this will work on the trunks of the newer models though. They may need something else.

It's not just that, so many times people don't look at the date on the posts and drag old stuff out and answer questions that where asked years before!! Or want to add their problems on the pile, instead of making their own post. That's what makes the world go around, I guess!! I've made that mistake before

I have already brought this up about adding this category and my thread was removed and relocated ....... There most definitely NEEDS to be a 2020 & Up category!

FWIW, I just installed the top case gas shock from the link in post #35 on my 2020 RTL; works fine and was an easy install. I did have to tighten the mounting bracket where the lower end is attached, but had no problems otherwise.

I may not be the least expensive solution, but is cheaper than a dealer install and I didn't have to deal with down time.

    Thanks!

You have it. It is cleverly hidden by plasticness.
